anyone know some good mouse pad websites that have multiple colors of mouse pads
Anyone know a keyboard and mouse I can get both under 100
model o gk61
Is this good
does any one know any good mice and keyboards?
G203
@amber oracle i ended up getting that deal along with a launchkey mini mk2 for $70
I'm thinking of getting a vr setup going i just dont know which headset I should get. Should I go with the Index or the Vive
Or let facebook do its bidding and get a rift
someone know of any good desks
Ikea lol
yea but the one i want is 200$
i mean for a desk thats really not terrible
@west hornet what kinda downsides would there be with iems vs headphones at like $150
quality wise headphones are usually better for the price, iems can get very expensive, but it is easier to carry a iem places. iems sound can also change based on positioning in your ear or if you move you jaw and such, but there is also personal preference factor
IEM's have for me, the tendency to "plug" my ears in the same way that it feels when there is altitude adjustment in a plane
I am looking to get a mechanical keyboard in a 60-65% layout, and then be able to customize it. I am looking for keyboards under $80. Any tips? I have been looking at a GK64 keyboard on Amazon with gateron black switches, and then do what RandomFrankP did and lube the switches and put some foam padding in it to quiet it down, but I am not sure if that would work with this keyboard.
it will you just might need to unplug a cable or two for the usb
and the gk64 is fine but id recommend reds bc blacks are pretty heavy
Okay. They keyboard I am looking at is a $65 GK64 keyboard on Amazon with hotswappable Optical switches. Does that sound alright? I can link it if you want
Honestly, what I want to do is buy a hotswappable mechanical keyboard in the 60% layout for not too much money, and then maybe switch the case and back plate, switches, and cable, and then lube all the switches and stabilizers
@tight pulsar
idk about lubing optical switches, but if ur gonna basically switch everything but the pcb and switches it might be better to spend an extra $20 or so and do a cheaper custom build
if you want to switch out the case, backplate and cable on a cheap 60 percent u might as well build ur own
the gk64 looks like a very solid mechanical keyboard
but if you wanna change out the backplate and case
just build ur own dude
Yeah. I just don't want to spend a ton of money. I want a 60% keyboard, and I want to mod it to work better for me, but I don't want to spend a ton of money
well then im afraid what you want to do is pretty hard
I like a 60% keyboard with dedicated arrow keys lol
so a 65 percent?
there is the drop alt
which is hot swap
but its 200 bucks
so that may be out of your budget
Yeah. I just don't want to spend a ton of money. I want a 60% keyboard, and I want to mod it to work better for me, but I don't want to spend a ton of money
<- you are asking for everything without being willing to pay for what it costs
60% with arrows is different than 65
i am sorry, but you are going to have a heck of a fight uphill on that
the bottom right cluster is just really compact
Yeah... Probably the best idea
but you will have more control over feel, aesthetic
but it will also last longer and be with you longer
it sounds cool too
its not a disposable like a regular keyboard is
or if you have a spare 3500 bucks you can pay taehatypes to do it for you
so, imo, its worth putting the time/effort into it
To build a custom, right?
yes
aye Zipp:)
with what you want its a lot smarter to build a custom
and its a pretty fun project if you ask me
but keep in mind, we are also not "normal" here
When doing a custom keyboard, how hard is it to build a low profile one?
just pick a low profile case
close enough-ish for this :)
Would you recommend Gateron switches, or Cherry MX?
it depends on what you want'
i think gats are better too
but there are a lot of cherrymx fanboys
if you are going to be building a custom look it to some higher end switches like NK creams, or Tealios V2s or Tangerines
:v only good cherry switches are ergo clears and vintage blacks
Is there a specific website or two that y'all would recommend to look at?
or just get gateron yellows and be 95% as good as nicer switches
id probably ask in discord servers there arent many websites that are pretty good
In discord servers?
anyway ive gtg so yeah
taehatypes and kbdfans are good servers with people that can help
kbdfans
@karmic bramble not a discord, but https://geekhack.org/index.php
geekhack - Index
a fairly big resource of info
Thanks!
its advised to set an alarm before you start reading on geekhack
because you can be there for weeks reading
Okay lol. Thanks for the tip
lol yeah gh is really big
main thing i go for now is just to look at all the ic's and see what i should spend all my money on next haha
I have a parts list. Is someone willing to take a look and make sure it is all compatible?
Parts list for a keyboard I mean
ive got band in a little but i can just glance over it
I am going to switch out the PCB for a different one, but the PCB's only have minor differences
hm so gateron yellows arent in stock so the switches are fine, id just get everglide/durock/c3 stabilizers instead for a little more if ur gonna get lube anyway, maybe try to find pbt keycaps, and lubing is gonna be harder without a switch opener grab a 3d printed one for like $6 if u wanna save time
I am going to what RandomFrankP did and use a WD-40 dry lube spray. All he did was press the switches down a little and spray it into it
Yees
looks good to me
No one I know builds keyboards, so I can't really borrow lube lol
ya
Thanks for the help though!
@tight pulsar the problem with the stabilizers you recommended is that the PCB does not have stabilizer mounting holes. It only use plate mounted ones
if its plate mount then yeah those are ur best bet
The ones I have on my list?
womp womp, i ordered my gk61 kit from banggood, and thought i checked the faster shipping, but apparently didn't, so it's a 20-35 day delivery window for me
instead of 10-15 days

hey, at least you didnt check a "oh just send it next year or something" box
that's true, but with no real tracking until it hits USPS, that might very well happen
whats a good keyboard?
a good keyboard or a good and reasonably priced keyboard
nah
your paying more for the brand name in this case
get something with a proper keyswitch
like?
what is the difference in the different type of switches?
just how the keys feel
the logitech one was rubber dome with a fake click sound, the browns are linear with a bump, and the razer one was just on sale, i wouldnt actually suggest you get it
its an optical switch, and its linear with no bump or click
well anything will do then
its a brick with buttons in it, how the keys feel is like 90% of the reason you pick one keyboard over another
and form factor, of course, some people like small keyboards
my hands dont fit on small keyboards i dont like them XD
the keycaps are the same size
yeah but its more bunched up
i wouldnt really say bunched up but yeah some keys are on layers

well there isnt a big difference between wireless
and wired nowadays
@hard quartz whats ur budget, ergo or ambi, light or heavy, rgb or not. what grip do you use
@sharp kindle Budget is 100ish, idk what that means, light/medium not heavy, idc, and idk. these are all things i havent considered/dont know how to consider
ergo or ambi means do you want a mouse thats ergonomic
or ambidextrous
ergo is more comfy imo
if you want a light mouse something like a Glorious Model D or D- will be great
it has rgb
and is around 60 bucks
its super light
and has great mouse feet
scroll wheel is great
good clicks
the cable is amazing
ergo over ambi, im not ambi lol
makes it feel wireless
ok then the Model D or D- is for you
super comfy
@hard quartz take a look and see if you like it
if its not for you there are many other options
Im checking it out now! Whats the difference between the model O and the model D? @sharp kindle
O is ambidextrous
meaning its ambidextrous in shape
while the d has an ergonomic shape
np
Im assuming this is the mouse you use?
yes
its my daily driver
extremely comfy
and is good for gaming and office tasks
awesome, I'm ordering one now
alright! (i swear im not sponsored by them)
Lol I believe you
If you were sponsored... would you have a discount code for me?
lame.
any recommendations on gateron switches for typing / programming etc?
uwu
I think you should just state your problem instead of asking if you can get help @waxen surge
My fans and light strips don't light up all the way :/
Anyone? :/
sry, dont have much knowledge on this
if u have a warrnaty on this, u could proabbly do that
i am looking for a good gaming headset under 300 CAD (225 USD) thats actually good, I was first gonna go with the razer nari ultimate but i can do better, it doesn't have to be wireless but i perfer wireless but if the headset is good but wired idc
ping me if u know
Sennheiser GSP
amp? depends on the amp i guess. some require external power
most i know of use external, but some use usb
im sure any sennheiser headset is rlllyyy good
those run aout 200-300 bucks
@calm cobalt
looks like it should be good with laptop
Should I get a glorious model d or d-? I currently have the deathadder elite and my hands are 7.3 inches height and 3.7 inches across.
I really want to get into the light weight mice
the 2 mouse pads im looking at is the xxxl glorious mouse pad and zowie g sr se
Hey Everyone, have a question on this Solar Panel
Just wondering if you know if it will support this Meraki AP MR 86, which requires the following power requirement: Power over Ethernet: 42.5 - 57 V (802.3at compatible)
Power consumption: 18 W max
While back got the Logitech g305 for $15 shoulda sold it but I already took it out
Originally $60
Thoughs on the Logitech g613 keyboard?
Really the only wireless keyboard that takes aa batteries
That's decent looking
why would u want a keyboard that runs on batteries?
as for the kb, ive always liked logis keyboards but iver never had that one. plus logitech is great with customer support
Epic
Can someone please tell me if the USB microphone from UPONTEK (USB Microphone Audio Recording LED Microphone Studios Gaming PC Desktop Computer) is suitable for voice recognition?
Does anyone have this one? (IT is black and red). It says that it has a mute button. Where is that? Does it have an on/off switch? Where on the unit? Is the USB cord included?
do you have a product link for that @calm gyro
i would not trust that one to know its own head from its tail
Can you recommend a decent mic for voice recognition that is USB and has an on/off switch? Trying to keep under $50.
Interesting listing to say the least.
Is it the manufacturer that you dislike or distrust?
Well, any that has actual reviews :D
🙂
I am new to this blog - please tell me why the "Add a server" keeps blinking on the left of the screen? Why would I want to do that?
Eh, they just want you to join more servers :D You can leave it alone, I assume you've only joined this discord server so far?
yes, that's right. I appreciate your help. I'll take a look through the site again and heed the warning to look for reviews.
If I want to come back to this blog again, is the URL discord.com?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I9RK97K/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1RUOWZ2794IXS&psc=1 <- can you tell me what price you see on that @calm gyro ?
$40.04
then that is a solid mic
What specifically do you like about it? Do you own one?
i own the big brother to it
that one
its one of a number of mics i have :)
turned out it was punching way way above what i paid for it some years ago
other decents mics are the fifine k669 and if you want to go a little over budget the samson q2u
Anyways Naed I got a question for ya, a while back, you said USB Headsets have built-in sound chips, and on-board sound chips doesn't really matter, correct?
correct
Is there a reason why I feel I'm getting worse audio and mic quality when the same headset is plugged into my laptop vs my desktop?
anything that "shows up as its own component" in your OS = not relying on built-in audio chip
Especially the mic quality feels really bad
settings in the OS
is it possible for the ALC1220 on my mobo to take over the audio processing of the usb headset?
only problem i have with meteorite is the stand, it picks up a lot of desk noise
it should not be able to take over anything @daring zenith
alright
usb is a digital connection so it wouldn't use on board audio
but double/triple check that windows has not enabled some obscure setting somewhere
alright I'll look around on the laptop
remember, there are multiple setting windows for each component
aye aye
I assume this is where you mean by "if it shows up as a device, it does it's own thing"?
and yes there too
(my pic is from sound settings)
testing a horrible horrible old as stonehenge logitech headset
Looks like someone wants you in build chat btw
what's a good kb mouse headset and mic? ambidextrous mouse btw
what's a good kb mouse headset and mic? ambidextrous mouse btw
@wintry bramble anne pro 2, g403, and you can go with hyperx cloud stinger
Bruh
yooo finally in the states
gtg
For a mouse I like a Razer Ouroboros
Hey guys I just ordered a corsair K68 and I have a question. I'm wondering if I remove all the keys if I will be able to remove the silicone dust protector. Would this make the keyboard feel more like a pure mechanical keyboard? Thanks
My setup really should be the Ducky One 2 Mini , Razer Ouroboros , Hyper X Cloud Flight , Hyper X QuadCast
@frozen zealot it "IS" a mech keyboard.
how about you at least try it out before you decide you need to modify it :)
@amber oracle yeah I know it's a mechanical keyboard but it has the silicone at the bottom which makes the end of the keystroke different than one without the silicone. Yeah i think i am going to try it out first just wondering if anyone has had previous experience :)
iirc, its fine.
at worse it would just make it feel like a silenced switch
i guess viper, it's ambidextrous
¯_(ツ)_/¯
and i would rather an elgato wave 1 over the hyperx quadcast
im sure any sennheiser headset is rlllyyy good
@timid hound ok
is the gsp 670 vs steelseries arctis pro wireless
anyone here main a GSR-SE?
Could someone explain what type of UPS I’d need for my pc? Our house is old and the electrical system is... less than reliable
just get a 1500VA and call it a day lol
in all seriousness it depends on how much of your stuff youre plugging into it and also how long you want your system to run in case of a power outtage
my 2 monitors and my pc plugged into a 1500VA CyberPower UPS is more than enough i think
ive heard bad things about APC
fire hazard
Mainly confused by the wattage
just look up linus's video UPS as fast as possible on YouTube
Oh he did one on that?
How should you pick the right UPS for your computer so you'll be prepared for a power outage?

Neat!
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=108588.0 hm interesting might grab some of these
[IC] Oxblood Tactile Switches | Preinstalled TX Springs
alright so im getting an xlr mic setup and am planning on buying some beyerdynamic dt 990 pros 250ohm
should i still buy a "gaming headset" or will i be fine?
are you getting it like an all in one headset or mic and headset
@quick skiff well does the 7.1 surround only apply to gaming headsets or is it the same with regular audiophile headphones
because i just bought an audio interface and a xlr mic
I think you would have to get a headset that is compatible with that feature because otherwise you wouldn’t hear a difference
There are gaming headsets that do support 7.1 surround but they are mad expensive
so i'd be better off just keeping the headset i have for 7.1 and using the xlr mic
for gaming that is
yeah thats preferable because you did already buy the mic
ya okok
oh and make sure to get a board with a good sound system on it or else it probably won’t be able to give 7.1 or good sound
like good onboard sound
how do i make sure of that? @quick skiff
you should go to the boards official page to see it’s audio capabilities
sometimes manufacturers don’t list the audio capabilities on amazon or such
yes motherboard
yes go to the official page for the motherboard because usually manufacturers don’t list audio capabilities on the amazon listing
alright so you are good
you don’t have to worry about your headset not being used to the max
Do you know how microphone stands work?
yeah I know
you just slip the microphone in and keep it in with a screw and tighten it if you want it to stay there
Are they universal?
That’s for the desk stand
yeah they are universal unless the mic comes with its own stand
but some are universal but still come with a stand
Cause the mic comes with a shock mount
well actually most do
yeah that’s so that if it shakes it won’t shake as much
so there’s less noise and better stability
Any recommendations?
well lemme check because some are good and some are well...bad
Thx
like do you want a desk stand or like one of those big adjustable stands with the arm and such
For a big arm one definitely check this one out
👀
surround sound is only used in like living room theater setups but not much in headphones
@hollow pond if ur headphones have a regular 3.5 audio you would need a 1/4" adapter for it to plug into your audio interface along with your XLR mic
Can I use the shock mount with that? @quick skiff
I know my audio interface came with one @tacit wing
Yeah you can, that box is called a DAC, basically improves audio quality and reduces electrical noise.
Would speakers for monitors belong in this chat?
sure
Ok so I'm thinking if buying a monitor for the series x and eventually a pc and it doesn't have built in speakers
So with external speakers if I buy a set of 2 would I need an aux splitter? Because the monitor has a headphone jack
get a dac setup
depends on the speakers
I see
got the new AirPods and I love them, but they absolutely kill my ears. Tried everything trying to get them to work out, but they just won’t. The right pod also has a slight crackle in it when volume is around 60%+. That being said, anyone have suggestions for best wireless earbuds?
Galaxy buds 😂 they worked great for me and we're very comfortable I just didn't take care of em correctly and now they don't work for me, if you take care of em they'll work good imo
@solar raft
I’ve heard galaxy buds are good, but haven’t ever tried them. Also heard the Sony WF-1000XM3’s are good. Just not sure what to go with. The sound quality/bass on these AirPods was disappointing. I think I had 2nd gen AirPods before these and they were great, only problem was that when eating or talking a lot they seemed to work their way out of my ears lol
i have pixel buds but only got them because i have a Pixel 3 XL lol
Yeah, I got AirPods because I have an iPhone X and the convenience is nice lol
@solar raft you got the regular airpods?
@quick skiff yeah i was gonna buy that one but i found a better one with more features for cheaper here locally
Yeah, I do
That’s great, definitely go for that one.
Ok so actually I wasn't giving the T2's enough credit
I can definitely recommend them
@quick skiff what kind of aux connector do i need?
are you connecting to board to the DAC, or are you plugging it straight into the boards audio jack?
no
The DAC is connected straight into the motherboard to reduce electrical noise, if you have one
if you don’t just plug the headphones into the motherboards audio ports
would the gpro wireless be good for my hand size is 16.4 and 9.4
im plugging the headphones into the audio interface and yes my mb has a dac
@quick skiff
okay well just plug it into the mb
the audio interface??
@quick skiff
yeah the audio jack
and when your mic comes in use the mic port and it the one you ordered has one of those big plugs get a converter or something
You have a usb audio interface, you should plug your mic into the xlr input and your headphones into the headphone output on the interface. Then use a usb cable to plug your interface into the computer. I'm not sure bruh understood you on that.
DAC stands for digital/analog converter, and all interfaces will have one included in the circuitry that makes up the interface. They do market one way interfaces as DACs though, these are mainly used with high end headphone amps, these typically do not come with mic preamps or input conversion. I generally assume when someone brings up a "DAC" they are talking about these one way headphone specific devices.
@brisk parcel
is the razer huntsman good
thanks @iron vale
@wintry bramble this seems like a useful vid for ya in relation to that question https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uS6qbPSsQZs&ab_channel=JordanAsh

Anyone have experience with those whirlwind fx keyboards? I’ve seen ads on Instagram for them and they look pretty neat
I haven't heard of them.
All I know is for mice I love the Logitech G302 & G303.
Keyboard I go with Ducky.
Expensive but nice.
Does anyone know of a router for internet in my house that also has a phone jack port on the back
sorry i mean a modem
you mean a USB port?
and @white talon oooh not bad
I assume your budget is around $100 ish?
tbh I think audiophile earbuds are more interesting, they have unique features at the higher price points
Well it's more of a bday gift from family lol. Turned 21 4 days ago
That's the budget if possible
ah ok, let me check massdrop, they have some pretty funky stuff
I'm not to big into keyboards but are there any good rgb keyboards that can have custom keycaps?
as long as its an mx compatible switch (should say somewhere) then you can put pretty much any keycaps on it
Ok thanks
OOOOH
THOSE LOOK INTERESTING
Is planar magnetic suitable for IEMs? for some reason I thought they were susceptible to movement
they look heavy
I have a hybrid grip what mouse do you recommend
these are sexy too
What kinda hybrid, palm-claw, palm-fingertip?
guys what’s better a gk61 or a asceny one
@obsidian dock i would get a gk61
Would it be worth it to buy a DAC for my IEM or just use it as it is
Depends on the iem, many that i’ve seen don’t really need external amp or dac.
I think in almost all cases an external dac will sound better than the onboard conversion
I like the flexibility of a decent usb audio interface, allows you to have independent headphone and reference monitor outputs, sometimes even two sets of monitor outputs. Also gives you phantom powered xlr inputs, so you can use a decent mic as well.
Fwiw I seriously doubt you need an external amp to drive IEMs, if that's what you're asking. I am positive they would have plenty of signal straight from the stereo output on your PC
I'm so stoked
Looks like a fat mouse.

Phat*
Honestly the mx510/518/g5 is the best mouse shape ever and I was very sad when they went away from it
Mx518 is goat
They still sell them on Logitech’s website
I think they have a revised sensor now
Yes, they released this reissue in the past couple of years I think, it's got the hero16k sensor that's in their other mice and maybe some updated switches, but the shape is what I wanted most. It feels so good.
they shouldve brought back the dented helmet look of that mouse
anyone want to suggest a decent dynamic XLR mic thats not an SM7B?
my condenser is literally picking everything up in my room
Well, the sm7b is a fantastic mic, why not it?
But the shure sm58 is great if you put it in your face, got to be careful how you address it though.
The electrovoice RE20 is a great mic as well.
For a cheaper option you could try out a Golden Age D2, or a Rode Podmic
With most dynamic mics you're gonna want them very close to your mouth, and properly addressed.
Can you change ARGB fans to One color using Arous Sync?
as long as you have the proper connector for the motherboard you should be able to set it to just about anything you want.
most of the software allows you a lot of customization options.
@iron vale the SM7B is out of my budget, if it was i wouldnt even hesitate 😦
but i have decided on the Procaster lol
Hey guys I’m looking for a little help on my keyboard I’m looking for a black 60% at around $60. I’ve been thinking DIERYK DK61E with cherry Mx red switches. Is that good or should I choose something else? Thanks!
oh yeah the RE20 wouldn't have been in budget either, sorry
some people don't like the sm7b believe it or not
@snow pine i dont know much about that keyboard, so i'd suggest something like the GK61 instead
also, doesnt that keyboard have gateron switches not cherry ones?
Yeah, sorry they do. I mixed them up for a different keyboard I was looking at
Just go Ducky.
I just purchased a LTO 7 Tape Drive with a IBM 5.5M SFF-8088 - SFF-8088 Ext miniSAS Cable how do I connect it to a HP Proliant DL60 Server?

also, doesnt that keyboard have gateron switches not cherry ones?
@devout fiber cherry switches are terrible gaterons are def better
never said cherries were better
I like the sound of cherries better :p
theres only 2 things good about cherry
What about cherry Mx blue nock offs?
vint blacks and the tops
What about cherry Mx blue nock offs?
@lethal token outemu blues or a different brand
vint blacks and the tops
@tight pulsar vint blacks are pretty smooth
Something I got from amazon it said they were mx blue eaquivalent
nachos can you help the dude looking for a keyboard
Hey guys I’m looking for a little help on my keyboard I’m looking for a black 60% at around $60. I’ve been thinking DIERYK DK61E with cherry Mx red switches. Is that good or should I choose something else? Thanks!
m gimme a sec
ty
I like the sound of cherries better :p
@daring zenith oof. I use Kailh speed pro burgundy and i think they sound better than any cherry switch. Blacks are the closest to sounding better. What switches specifically do you think sound better?
probably just a gk61
Cherry browns
ew
I just really like that sound ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Never tried
mod m second best tactiles
dont try them
mech27 with MOD-M switches lubed with thick krytox mix from techkeys
it's ok
I think I should.
zealios v2 and really any kailh clickies are great
if u wanna overpay get zeal
i really want a keyboard with kahil box whites but like i dont got money
I'd try browns first tho
Why
they arent tactile
theyre basically reds just mushier and scratchier
from what ive heard theyre like 90% red and 10% blue in how they feel
yeah
nah
Yea so I'd try them first
5% blue
*5% blue
10% is pushing it
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=108588.0 just get these ez
[IC] Oxblood Tactile Switches | Preinstalled TX Springs
you have to press them at a weird angle to feel any tactility
also holy pandas are amazing
That's what I've heard so far
yeah
for linears ive been maining kailh speed pro burgundys but im planning to pick up so creams bcause i hear that theyre super smooth
tfue switchessssss
lol
creams are pretty overrated imo
also about those oxbloods
theyre only popular cause tfue has them just pick up jwk ones
i looked them up no sound tests or any videos what so ever
yeah cause they arent out yet :v
theyre only popular cause tfue has them just pick up jwk ones
@tight pulsar i only recently heard that ive been hearing about them before he got his
oh
lol
there wasnt much talk about creams before that but they were kinda new so thats partially why
mmm
Mmm
mmm?
mmmmmmm
Anyone planning to play Star Wars squadrons in VR? What’s your favorite VR device?
anyone has any experience with the Rode Procaster mic
Wifey got me my first ever mechanical keyboard for my birthday and let me open it early. Cherry reds. 🥰
can anyone guide me with keyboards
i want a good logitech keyboard
mechanical is a must rgb is a plus
@uncut bone what’s your budget?
I've got the pro TKL and I like it a lot, I know the romer g switches are undesirable by most mech keyboard enthusiasts, but I very much like it.
i was also looking at going with a 60% because im running out of desk space
logitech doesnt make 60% boards
the smallest you can go on Logitech keebs is 80% tkl
i was also looking at going with a 60% because im running out of desk space
@uncut bone if youre running out of desk space consider investing in monitor arms
Ducky does.
ducky more like sucky
ducky more like sucky
@tight pulsar ducky isnt bad
:v
Ducky One 2 mini is great. If only I hadn't gotten it in baguette layout. 😩
So my family gifted me two vonyx 150W speakers (250 peak) for my birthday yesterday, I'm excited to set them up and replace my crappy logitech tweeters with these.
I have a AVR 65RDS amp from '98, hoping I don't have to upgrade but I think I may have to.
The only semi official spec sheet I was able to find is from harman/kardon themselves, and it seems to suggest max is 65W?
Here is a link to the manual in case that helps: https://www.vintageshifi.com/repertoire-pdf/pdf/telecharge.php?pdf=Harman-Kardon-AVR-65-Service-Manual-2.pdf
Is it safe to plug these speakers into my amp?
@daring zenith G pro wireless
@daring zenith u @ ted ur self
I did
Because g pro wireless
An actual answer is to get a glorious model o
or something like that
I really don't like razer peripherals :P
lol
bad software not great build quality and high prices
im getting the model o already it's just that they brought back the quartz razer stuff
what’s a good gaming headset for xbox
@wintry bramble Theres a model o wireless coming out for only 80 bucks
ik
Nice
@ me if you answer my query please, looking forward to not breaking something because I asked first
@west hornet you know amp stuff, help this man plz, scroll up a lil
razer viper ultimate or razer basilisk
@wintry bramble it depends on what you do mostly
the Basilisk is a direct competitor of the G502, while the Ultimate to the G Pro Wireless
personally, id go with the Viper Ult. because of the low weight as I play on very low sens on FPS games
but i'd reckon the Basilisk is better for productivity and MOBA games
i main the Viper Mini myself
ok
that's a av receiver, they are usually for more low powered speakers in a surround setup, and ye looks like 65-75w per channel
might be a bit underpowered for 150w speakers
@graceful jetty av recievers are only really meant for home surround system speakers, im not sure that will work
I bit the bullet and it seems to work alright
ok
@wintry bramble Razer just released their Quartz collection this morning it looks pretty sick
I had to turn the amp to -50dB so it was not insanely loud (PC vol is at 100%)
also wireless deathadder coming out soon
@tacit wing is that quartz mouse good
the color is just different
Logitech mice are great, i main'd the G203 before i switched to the Viper mini @sturdy barn
but theyre seriously behind when it comes to what youre getting stock. Their mouse feet arent even PTFE Virgins and their stock cables are stiff unlike Razer's new paracord
but i do understand why ppl have a bad taste from Razer's products due to quality control issues they had in the past, but they really stepped it up this year with the Basilisk and the Viper lineup
yo i need recommendation for good gaming earbuds
i don't like headsets
they're just not comfortable for me
Bose QuietComfort 20
some more comfortable than others
lol whats ur budget
i was thinking like $80
2 popular earbuds are the tin t2 and kz zs10 pro at about 50usd
i wish i knew s**t about earbuds
i know in CSGO LANs some pros use the Razer Hammerhead
the kz zs10 pro are v shaped and i think they have option for mic? tin t2 is a bit more even and are slightly brighter also have very nice cable but no mic
tin t2 does have many tips that come with it for size and comfort
@tacit wing i was thinking of buying those but unfortunately they're out of stock 😦 and amazon tryna scam me
tin t2 look good but the metal casing
the kz zs10 pro are v shaped and i think they have option for mic? tin t2 is a bit more even and are slightly brighter also have very nice cable but no mic
@west hornet arent those the ones taeha types use
I am against gaming audio gear, "gaming" gives no advantage and is a gimmick with very few exceptions
idk who taeha is
yes i never owned a gaming headset
he's the keyboard guy
this is just my personal experience: I am yet for try a pair of gaming "anything" audio gear that i have found worth the materials used for them
the mic on the new Logitech G Pro wireless headset sounds tragic
even in partnership with Blue mics
ofc i would do some research before you buy anything
isn't blue owned by logitech now?
Alright
yes they are @west hornet
yes logi owns blue
logitech snapped them up back in mid 2018
when were they bought
ahh
im still not sure how i feel about that move, been seeing them use the name Blue in their headsets just for marketing, not really sure how quality has been
i shudder just thinking about it @west hornet
lol
watch Hardware Canucks review of their new wireless headset and listen to the mic test lol
@tacit wing are AT good for gaming?
@tacit wing are AT good for gaming?
@barren solstice i use my m50x for everything
no, my daily dose of self torture is covered by being in #general-chat for 5 minutes. So i will pass on that @tacit wing
i will say i have the blue ember which was released 2019 i think, not sure how involved logi was in that but i am really happy with it, suites my needs
Aight
turnaround being what it is @west hornet, that is probably one of the last safe ones
there will be others
a lot of companies are scrambling to cover the needs that are springing up now
so in that regard, covid has done wonders
others? not so much
oh ya so much of live streaming equipment is just imposible to find lately
aye
my local ikea is completely deserted out of tabletops and other computer furniture with everyone working/school at home
elgato wave has been out of stock a long time, except maybe ebay
i have to do onlince classes tmrw since a teacher tested positive, they still tracking all the people in contact with em
and it is not as if (and i am being serious here) that the manufacturing facilities for something like Ikea can scale up in such a short time @tacit wing
and they wont scale up either
because its a one time "hump" of demand
taeha is lame tae is the cooler keyboard guy
Yeees’m
Any decent headset recommendations? I’ve always been biased to Turtle Beach for console, but I’m looking for anything under 150 USD. Prefer to have some sort of talkback feature, I’m not too sure on how that works with PC. Building my first one so I’m sort of in the unknowns at the moment for some things
Thank you I’ll check it out
on drop
Hey im looking for a headset with a really high quality built in mic, anyone have a good recomendation?
@flint lichen pc37x, good quality built in mic afaik.
depends on budget, but maybe good pair of headphones and modmic
ive already got a hyperx cloudx, so maybe a modmic on that?
The cloud is already pretty good no reason to upgrade so just get a good quality mic
https://github.com/kkatano/bakeneko-60 neat open sourced oring mount 60%
I'm back with sound problems 😅
I have a harman/kardon avr 65 amplifier, and it drives two 150W speakers really well (at lower than max volume, since amp is 100W per channel max iirc).
However, I can't seem to get it to output to my powered sub.
I've tried connecting the CENTER output to my sub's "from amplifier" input using speaker wire, no luck
I've also tried connecting both the sub pre out as well as the sub 6-ch out to the subwoofer's Left/Mono line input with no luck.
Connecting my PC directly to the sub does work, but I'd rather it go through the amp so I can control volume from a single place.
@tight pulsar what kb switches are clicky good for gaming and typing and not to loud
well clicky and loud are pretty much opposites :P
gateron brown
probably box navies or gateron blues
Gateron blues aren't loud?
as long as its not a hollow board theyre kinda quiet for clickies
something like box whites are loud clickies
but yaknow my knowledge consists of reds, blues, browns, and that's all
so the kiddie pool of switches :p
ya
u have a gmmk?
mhm
(please ping me if you answer)
if u want a good tactile id recommend grabbing some of the oxbloods in the future
i can't find any switches with box
they look rly solid
@graceful jetty remember, @ ghost for audio issues, and if ghost isn't online, Naed is also good with audio
update btw: I've tried both the L and R speaker wire output on the amp, which I use to drive the speakers, and still nothing from the sub
oh thanks
@west hornet p u n g
ive gtg rn so mr1 could u see if u can help justin
lol
NACHOS NO I DONT KNOW MY KBS
thx nacho
HALP
nachos out
aight bye nachos
cherry switches yay no nay @daring zenith
fully supports Nachos giving Mr1111 a taste of his own medicine
and no, i am not taking over
(hey Naed I asked an audio related question above, would you mind taking a look?)
But this time I don't know how keyboards are good :(
Mr1111 was praising your audio-related knowledge earlier
@calm cobalt okay I believe what he means by "box switches" are box kailh switches
wait wait wait
there's kailh switches, and then there are kailh box switches...
uhh
hm
i'll just get Corsair K95 RGB Platinum
no
idk if it's good
wait
Nachos likes ripping corsair apart for having weirdly textured keycaps and non-standard bottom row
and also expensive
but yaknow
I'm fine if you want like a K70
@amber oracle what does this manual tell me?
how that sub actually connects to things
okay... but I've already connected it that way (I think)
the only thing i can say then is this: Try until it works
should only go in sub output on the receiver
lol ok
OK @daring zenith
Im in between
2
atm
the corsair one i said before
and SteelSeries Apex Pro
could be settings in the receiver, some can adjust the channel levels
Anyways so you want tactile and not too loud
@west hornet see DM
tbh idc if it's loud or not
ok!
@daring zenith omnipoint adjustable just means i can change the sense for each key right/
the hell are omnipoint adjustables
NACHO
Ur back
@daring zenith hehehehehehehhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xp7j8fK5cpM
performance, design, and convenientmaintenance've listed
prepare for you the highest quality video
In this video, We will show you our top 5 Gaming Keyboard Mechanical in 2020. This video is for those people who looking to buy best Gaming Keyboard Mech...
LMAO
youtube
6/10
omnipoint is basically useless unless u wanna be pro csgo gaemrr
oop
no im still in the car
how about
Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, Backlit RGB LED, Cherry MX RGB Brown, Black
well uhhh I'm gonna go pay attention to class baiii
browns are lame
what about "speed silver"
are u gonna type on this keyboard
I use speed silver
speed silvers arent the best for typing a lot
the 2ms u save from speed switches isnt worth the bad typing experience imo
okay so no leopolds
they dont have rgb but are rly solid
yeah
@tight pulsar back, weren't you the one that suggested browns to me like a year ago...
LMAO
you can replace them but thats like $40 right there
@daring zenith i have grown
but i dont really like spending 200 on cherry mx switches
no a prebuilt
so there's my options
steelseries
or razer
:)
or something that looks good and fits me
oh
for $200 you could easily get a solid custom 60% so i dont like 200 for a prebuilt
id say razer over steelseriee
anyways nachos what really are box switches?
box browns are also avaliable on kdbfans it seems
ok
what are these customs?
What is the best clickies right now ignoring holy pandas?
in your opinion
ignoring lubing
like where do u buy "customs"
holy pandas as clickies
whatever it was
u have to built them
clickies/tactile
do they have to be out rn
ohh
Actually, including holy panda or anything that's out on the consumer market as long as it's not going to be extremely high price
Clickie/tactile
probably ergo clears, oxbloods, or mod m tactile
razer
huntsman te
ergo clears u gotta make tho @daring zenith
yeah
they used to be mx clear housings with other cherry parts but now its just 60-67g springs with clears
so, mod m, how do they feel?
idk i dont have them look up the reviews
the te had a lot of changes, new switches, usb c, keycaps
box browns are eh
they hurt to put in tho
which box is good for tactile/clicky? :P
whites/navy
it never fails to amuse me how bonkers talking about keyboards sound if you dont know the context
yeah and much lower pitched
but .1mm lower travel?
yeah
Okay, so I can't listen right now, but I like the sound of browns, which sound do you think I would like better?
If I need to listen for myself to find out, I can do that later too.
tinny pitch or what do you mean @tight pulsar ?
i dont really know what that means so ill just link a sound test
hmm
Figured I'd just do a small lil' bit comparing the two types of modern click switches. Any switches featured can be found on NovelKeys_' website.
anyways I'm currently used to outemu blues, so I'm liking the box white operating and tactile force stat wise
preference but a lot of people dont care much for blues
I'll listen later
sooo reds?
red=smooth linear
blue=clicky loud
no sound before bottoming out on reds
loud tactile click on blues
@tight pulsar https://youtu.be/MxM7mTMVSWI?t=151 <- you mean the white is (to you) higher pitched because the soundscape is more narrow?
Figured I'd just do a small lil' bit comparing the two types of modern click switches. Any switches featured can be found on NovelKeys_' website.
because it seems to me, to be less "metal"-like in its sound
anyone here has any experience with kbdfans kbd75v2?
all box switches are pretty high pitched vs mx blues but yeah ig thats what is sounds like
i am just trying to understand your pov Nachos, not saying either is good/bad/anything
and in the above timestamp, you can just ignore the mx blues
yea
to me, the main difference is in amount of "space" that the sound of the pinks take VS the sound that the white take
i dont really do much with clickies but i thought it was a lot higher pitched before than that but it doesnt sound super high pitched
its a bit like a "wide" field (pinks) and "spiked" pole (whites) soundstage for both respectively
ya thats part of it
thank you for the video link :)
box whites have a thicker click bar than pink/navy/other box clickies so that might be why
ya same
which is ofc the easiest way to tie the actual "sound" to how they actually sound
i might pick up some switch testers to mess around with clickies and tactiles
cause box navies are more expensive :p
navies are .04¢ more a switch so probably why
side note, you ever read about the Axios?
