the cpu
idk
I give up have fun :P
My prediction: by the time you have enough saved up to get the CPU et all, AMD will have bypassed intel in gaming performance
Corsair is decent, though they did have an issue with AIOs recently
I have a question
Sure
All in one. It's one of the better ways to cool top of the line CPUs like the 10900 or the 3950x
ok
So then ima just buy rn the PSU and then get the case
Then upgrade motherboard
To a
Sounds like a plan
Okay, so that motherboard will only work with AMD cpus anyway
Yup
Eh
It's best for the lower end AMD cpus, which do fine with the air cooler that they come with
Then you'll want an x570 motherboard
ok
The tuf is a bit better, but will still be a stretch for the best CPU
It's not on the list, so I'm gonna have to check manually
It has a thunderbolt. That's kinda cool
ok
Are you doing SLI?
overpriced
That's a really good motherboard but it should be 200$ retail
also ships from china
ok
Also won't work very well for dual GPU if you ever go that way
sli bad tho
Ok so i dont want it
I was thinking of later in time going for 2 NVIDA Geforce GTX 2080 Water cooled GPU
But i have no money cause i dont have work rn
That's SLI
MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI AM4 AMD X570 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard
is this good ?
How much?
$170 i think
Where are you finding it for $170?
i can't post link here
Take the http off the front
@sharp tiger
?
Copy the link, then take the "http" part off the front and it will go through
I have sended u pictur
It’s not good ?
don't buy it if you're hoping to put in a high end chip basically
shouldn't have issues if you just put in like a 3700x
Is the corsair 32 GB Ram good
What speed?
specs matter
so this motherboard is good to go with this chip ? ://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-9-3900x/p/N82E16819113103?Description=amd%20ryzen%209%203900&cm_re=amd_ryzen_9_3900--19-113-103--Product&quicklink=true
DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600)
Who
Would recommend 3700x
//www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-7-3700x/p/N82E16819113567?Description=AMD RYZEN 9 3700X&cm_re=AMD_RYZEN_9_3700X--19-113-567--Product&quicklink=true
this ?
Yes
For a top of the line AMD CPU, you'll want 3600
vrm what is that mean ?
Voltage Regulation Module
i see
which one should i can compare for the cpu good to work with motherboard ?
wdym
some boards I just know have issues
they don't really list out VRM specs nd stuff
ok
and VRMs are complicated

very very complicated :P
Lets go saying
ye theres a sheet with VRM specifics
but I don't even know how I should compare them
other than more phases = good
x570-plus is good
yea thats a good board iirc
I thought you weren't buying mobo right now?
Ima add everything to cart
Then when i get back to doing Dj ill buy everything
Speed
DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600)
Good??
Ok
is the Gigabyte B450 AORUS ELITE compatible with the r5 3600
yes
it will
yeah they all say that
most likely
okok and is that a good combo
yes
okok ty on to case and psu i go
@rough ingot do you have a budget for the pc?
purpose?
900 pc and montior?
in total i have like 1k
so i was trying to get a 850 ish computer so i can get a 144hz monitor
wifi?
ethernet
I like that
hey guys do yall think a ryzen 7 3700x and a 2070 super would be a good pair?
Yeah
okay just wanted to check with the pros lol
@violet halo whats the purpose of the pc?
games and college work
budget?
already have the 2070 and im just upgrading parts. i saw the 3700 was on sale and figured i would send it
What major in college?
majoring in criminal justice which i know does not require much pc use but i do side projects and do design signs and the sort for my job
Just also know that recommend monitor would also be 1440p@120Hz+
Worse monitor kinda means that PC isn't pushed as much as it could
yee thanks for the help bois
Very curious how this is on ebay and says buy from Newegg and is available. Ships by 22nd https://www.ebay.com/itm/383040271149
That's very interesting
i'd assume so
i'm wondering why its twice on my wish list too
dunno maybe an error
well is that one for 164.99 suitable for my ryzen 5 3600? lol i'll try
lol in cart it says insufficient quantity at 1 but apparently i can hit update at 1 and go to checkout
@hollow thorn can you verify this for me
its odd that this is in stock suddenly
@plush timber I checked with Newegg about the ebay link, and it's legit
its also on neweggs page
i'm bout to order it but i dont know if this is just an error thats teasing me b/c theyre evil lol
i ordered ryzen 5 3600 is this correct one?
Yes
thank you
still looking for PSU but i'm curious why this suddenly came into stock now lol
I just bought https://www.newegg.com/asus-rog-strix-b450-f-gaming/p/N82E16813119140?Item=N82E16813119140# and https://www.newegg.com/cooler-master-masterliquid-ml240l-rgb-liquid-cooling-system/p/2YM-0004-00015?Item=2YM-0004-00015# but alas the screw spacing is different. Anyone know what will fit?
Screw spacing?
There's literally 1 cooler master mwe 650 in stock rn on Amazon if your interested @plush timber
@minor sinew there should be 2 different brackets with the AIO, one for Intel lga1151, one for AMD am4
i'll have ot check that
i was looking at a bitfenix one and a corsair rmx650
is cooler master mwe good?
Rm650x is probably the best you can find but a mwe is good too.
Yes
Rmx is better tho lol
Bitfenix whisper m is really good too
lol
Whisper m and RMx same tier imo
well poop
Mwe is slightly lower
Ya
But still good
Ya you could
if you guys say rmx or the whisper m is better i'd rather wait
Yep ^

LOL
@hollow thorn wow, I feel stupid, thank you
My experience with rmx sucks
Why is that
Got it worked great for a week then broke
like i said i have a seasonic in my current build form 2015 and its going strong
so you had a rmx that died in a week or so @deep vigil ? did they replace it?
Is a b550 better than a x570
b540? i dont believe so. think its just a little slower
i just bought https://www.newegg.com/asus-tuf-gaming-x570-plus/p/N82E16813119198 with ryzen 5 and 32gb of ram
They both run. b540 is for cheaper, lower spec chips, x570 is for more expensive, higher end chips. The CPUs should run the same on either as long as they have enough power, x570 just has more features and power delivery available
ok cool thanks
you know maybe i should have gone with a b450 lol
Do you guys think the Ryzen 5 3600 is ok with the stock fan? Wasnt planning on getting a liquid setup but might int he future.
Yes
ty again lol
Just bought a EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING MB, CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (4 x 8GB) RAM, AMD RYZEN 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6 GHz (4.4 GHz Max Boost) and Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite ML240L RGB AIO CPU Liquid Cooler, just sitting here until the case comes on Monday
Nice
Gotta learn how to OC now
Quick question: is b450 gaming plus max good?
uhh its like the tomahawk max just less expensive
im not too sure about the differences tho
maybe vrm temps
and the rgb
@daring patio
i only really trust newegg but you could check tiger direct but i'd just try googling for the specific make and model
It comes in and out of stock on best buy a good bit
Can anyone knowledgeable PM me? I'm having issues with $250+ worth of parts that I purchased from NewEgg las week 😢
I purchased 16gb (2x8) of 3,200 Corsair Vengeance RGB RAM and my computer only reads anywhere from 1,000 MHz (I read it with 5 programs). The BIOs says "Frequency: 2,197"
Furthermore, I purchased a Western Digital WD BLACK SN750 NVMe M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express 3.0 x4 64-layer 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) WDS100T3X0C, and it won't read it or detect it at all. I have an Asus ROG Strix B450-F Gaming motherboard with the most up-to-date BIOS. I installed it in the first M.2 slot above, between the CPU and GPU.
@wet moon For the SSD, try unplugging any other drives you have installed except your boot drive and/or try the other m.2 slot, sometimes sata ports share bandwidth with m.2 slots.
For the ram, do you have an XMP profile enabled?
@supple monolith I'll try switching it.
Not sure what an XMP is, but I searched on my BIOs for anything related NVMe and M.2 and enabled it.
Your ram runs at base DDR4 frequencies out of the box. You have to enable an XMP profile to reach the rated freqency
See above for a guide that shows how to do it on every major mobo
i bought the GIGABYTE B450M DS3H and im not sure if could use it with my 3700x out the box, does anybody knmow if it comes with a most recent bios because if it doesnt then im screwed
@lone ruin It probably comes with the most recent bios. If not, you can either bring it into microcenter to have it updated or borrow a last gen CPU from AMD
thanks !
Just grabbed one of the new B550 preorders for my little bro's new computer
@lone ruin That motherboard does come with 3rd gen Ryzen support
Just won't have PCIe 4.0 expansion card support
I been looking at the Crosshair VIII. Anyone have an opinion on that mobo?
Is that a older board
its x570
theyre kinda overpriced
It’s really hard to find things nowadays, maybe you can find something in local stores
@main pulsar that’s what I was wondering.
if your just gaming, and nothing else, dont get any of those boards
you should spend anywhere from 70-180
not 360
💪
its just oos its been out, b+h is restocking soon

Ok lol That what I thought but just making sure before I tell my friend
He has to buy a wraith prism because he cant remove the brackets from the board
Do those stock coolers actually work well? My wife insisted on an aftermarket aio to get multiple rgb fans when we built her Ryzen system
Decided I wasn't going to wait and see what the Mattise refresh looked like.
@hollow thorn oh yes, custom loop with two 360mm rads and 3800mhz cl14 RAM. Going to probably spend several hours tuning and testing.
What cpu block did you pick?
@spare gyro Bitspower touchaqua
Ah nice I haven't used their blocks but all my fittings are Bitspower, if you have their fittings be careful they flake a little when you screw them in (white or black coated ones)
@spare gyro yeah, I've pretty much only ever used bitspower for block (except for one bykski which was terrible). My old rig has gtx 980 tis in SLI with their full coverage blocks and one of their CPU blocks on a i7-4770k.
I've had good luck with alphacool fittings, though I've seen some people hate on them
@shy breach how much ram
@tulip raft 16GB
My ram was 500 Dollars for 64GB 3200CL14 lol
more expensive then my motherboard equal with the gpu for now atleast.
Yeah the ram was 199 the mobo was 139
Well, I don't assume they're the best. But at half the cost of everything else, can't really say they're horrible
hello, I'm hoping that someone can help me. Kind of new to this. Im looking for a motherboard that will support a 3rd gen ryzen 7 chip. Thank you. this is for my son
What budget?
under 200 if possibe
what am i looking for and where
ok thank you
and remember @plush pilot, expensive doesn't always mean good
ok so what should i look for
thank you again
Do you need MATX or mini ITX?
I m not sure. if its good than yes. This is going in my sons pc
I'm guessing you're using a 3700X right?
yes
yeah so the one I linked should work fine
ok Thanks again
2500k is a beast
lol
Yeah no problem onyx
I'm just using 10400 for a temporary cpu since i9 10900K still out of stock
oh @digital kernel this is the guy building the aquarium PC or whatever ^
@tulip raft i'm correct about that right?
Yes
alright awesome
hello, should I wait for the new amd cpus to come out or should i just buy one now(i am aiming for a ryzen 5 1600 af)
i mean i just buy cheap cpu when one is coming out really soon or out of stock for a while
then buy it and sell the cheap one
still a waste of money if you do that
i mean idc
1600 AF is a solid CPU, but the 3300X performs a bit better in gaming
if you can find 1600 AF for the normal $85, I'd say go for it
i5 10600K solid gaming cpu
but expensive motherboards
if you got the money
Eh
I don't think there expensive
I got my Z490-G for like 230
@long geyser the only bykski gpu block I ever used fit horribly and warped the pcb and required extensive modification, it also didn't cool as well as it's ek counterpart.
@warped scroll my z490 mag tomahawk was 189 today plus 30 off since I bought the 10600k with it.
Still more expensive than something like a B450 tomahawk or B450M pro4
@warped scroll yeah, but you're not getting anything Ryzen past 5ghz
true dat
I'm lucky enought to have a dedicated workstation for editing and 3d modeling, so the 10600k is purely for gaming.
Hey guys, quick question. I have a Bequiet pure Base 500dx which has a USB 3.1 C and a regular USB(2.0)? on front panel. My Motherboard has a 3.2 and x2 2.0 headers.. How would you guys adapt this so everything works
THe 3.1 should connect to the 3.2 slot unless I'm sorely mistaken.
I know I can find adapter to make them both work. But how do I maximize function
So i would then adapter the regular USb into the 2.0 headers?
Ooo, I need to bookmark that thing
Its the Aorus b550 Pro i got coming
and that adapter is expensive.. ive found others that are like 10 dollars and still maintain 5 gs
here are 2 of those for 14 dollars
When is ddr5 happening
never
Cool
yeah @neat estuary there are more now than when i got mine, at the time i got mine it was $24 and was the cheapest i could find
Its still showing as 24$
Bet DDR5 is late next year.
yea it is
It looks like high quality, but im ok with a cheap one.. i nver use my front ports 😄
DDR7 when
but again, there were no others available when i went for mine 3mo ago lol
i woulda been fine w/ a $10 as well but no go lol
i think i checked the stats.. its 5 gbyts per second on them im certain.. so no diffrence
Do tell me how you get those short Amazon links? @tranquil wolf
9 times outta 10, you can delete the stuff after the first ? in the URL lol
it's just referral info usually
tps://www.amazon.com/dp/B072ZV1566/ref=sspa_dk_detail_1?
Here is the other parts to my puzzle.. seems easy enough. and also 5gs passthrew
nice
o shiny ram
@mild jackal Opterons, which architecture?
Piledriver. Abu Dhabi
Opteron 6378
I have a bunch actually ,some 6128 bulldozers magny cours chips, some 6344s, etc
Ah nice what are you using all that for?
Bought cheap on ebay to play with, learn some server stuff, out of band management, IPMI, PXE etc
Ah nice with that 4p mb should be interesting
Ya, was only $100 including 4x 6128's
Crazy how fast tech ages
also, MEMES https://i.imgur.com/zw3gChw.jpg
Yeah I have a pc graveyard and was looking at a few the other day thinking I remember just using that.... lol
It's fun for bios modding fun, I can set the bclk to 140ish MHz with windows seeing a 100mhz bclk, can also force the p0 power state for all core with a modded bios
So one can run 3.2GHz all core
When the PC graveyard probably has newer parts than you do
But that means 1200 watts power draw on p95
I bet with a modern cooler instead of those you have there could get a sick oc on them
300w on those passive (?) Coolers?
Well, they're locked, so the best I can do on non ES chips is the 3.2 GHz
no, I put 12000 rpm delta fans on them
Ah, no fans in the pic
I tried these, and the on-board buzzer screeched at me 5 mins in , on the 6128's https://i.imgur.com/5FEhcjd.jpg
oof
aight, might as well pic dump https://i.imgur.com/wld3kwC.jpg
ram
https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/6378 says t hey have a 115w tdp so could easily throw something bigger on
dont look so good there
is that the old paste or is that the cores??
They draw 250 watts each + with modded bios with forced p0 power state at 3.2GHz all core p95 smal fft
It's a gallium/indium paste
To run the chips on ambient I have to use the 12k rpm delta fans https://i.imgur.com/4ggPVl1.jpg
wonder how cheap you could find some water blocks for it.....
You can mod am4 blocks to g34 somewhat easily
I have, don't have pics though
G34 just has farther apart mount holes
4 360mm rads xD
Hey Guys, ive been having a bit of an issue with the lighting control on my Asus Prime B450M-A Mobo, every time i restart my PC or power it up from a shut down and then log into my pc, it shuts off after a few seconds to a min. It's really not that big of a deal but its really annoying because i want my lights to stay on, if anyone has a possible solution or an idea please let me know. Thanks!
P.S. Asus aura sync and all my drivers are up to date, and heres a link to my exact mobo if anyone would need to use it to help, https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FKV5HWJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Im open to any suggestions, and again thanks to anyone that does...
https://datasheet.datasheetarchive.com/originals/library/Datasheets-DIGA8/DSADIGA000145540.pdf socket g34 data specs idk if that will help
@mild jackal maybe you can find some https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-supremacy-amd-c32-g34-acetal on ebay
EK-Supremacy AMD C32/G34 is the ultimate water block for server- & workstation type motherboards featuring one or more AMD C32- or G34 sockets. Included PreciseMount mechanism offers error-preventing, tool-less installation - the result is a perfect installation which results ...
Anyone use https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-256gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232954?&quicklink=true or its 128mb kit wondering how they oc. Would love the CL14 but they don't make a 256gb kit
https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b450m-ds3h/p/N82E16813145083?item=N82E16813145083&nm_mc=knc-googleadwords&cm_mmc=knc-googleadwords-_-motherboards - amd-_-gigabyte-_-13145083&source=region I was wondering if this supports 3rd gen Ryzen processors
@peak basalt yes it does, the first bullet point on the page says * Supports AMD 3rd Gen Ryzen/@nd Gen Ryzen and so on.
I'm torn. I want to max my memory so want https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-256gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232954?&quicklink=true BUT I would love the cl14 timings of https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-128gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232562. What to do what to do 😦
I have 32Gb (4 sticks of 8gb) of Corsaire Vengeance LPX 3200mhz Ram, and I cant get my ram to run at 3200mhz, it just stays at 2133mhz. I have tried setting the DRAM speed to 3200mhz and have even tried turning on A-XMP, and nothing works, as CPU-Z and my command prompt says that all my ram is running at 2133mhz. It also says that the "max bandwidth" is 2133mhz, even though it is 3200mhz ram. Any help?
Specs: Ryzen 5 2600x
32 gb (4 sticks of 8 gb) Corsaire Vengeance LPX 3200mhz Ram
Nvidia Gtx 1060 6b
Msi B450 Gaming Plus Motherboard
450 watts power supply
any help? ive been really struggling to try and fix this. Thanks.
You can ignore max bandwidth
I have 3600mhz ram, max bandwidth is just 2133mhz
but the actual dram frequency is at 3600 (1800*2)
yea xmp is technically oc
Finally got this program to work it was Bitdefender being sneaky. I have a B Die!
@left edge that would be amazing if it's true, A1 is supposed to be one of the best B die revisions
Hello, I purchased the following two items as well as remaining parts to complete a PC. All parts new. Motherboard will not POST. Just shows Q-Code 00. Has never shown any other Q-Code.
Removed all components including motherboard from case. Right now I have motherboard by itself with CPU and half the RAM installed. Plugged in to power supply still gives Q-Code 00. I even tried removing CPU and all RAM. Same Q-Code 00.
Any ideas?

@hollow thorn I being told i have a c die in overclocking discord server
eh thaiphoon burner usually is correct
Should I get b550 with my new build of 3600 and gtx 1650?
Just get a x470 or a x570 b550 is overpriced
What's the difference between b550 and x570?
By how much is the b550 overpriced for 119
@slate seal B550 doesn't have pcie4. @burnt totem over 200 dollars
200 dollars and higher for a B550 is a rip off
@left edge MSI B550 preorders starting from 120$
Nice
The MSI b550 boards are looking really nice, hoping they perform well.
not that bad but we'll have to see stock
Seriously I always get false information about b550
Asrock boards are shown on newegg now, starting from 115$
I think MSI preorder is on amazon
Vrm looks concerning
What's difference between b550 and 570x?
We'll have to see specifics on boards, but chipset wise little difference
I'm guessing b is for micros?
Hey so im hella new to building pcs, and is a B550 going to go good with a Ryzen 3600x, RTX 1070, and 16g DDR
Alright tysm
@naive pendant not really, its just b is slightly lower end, and x slightly higher end
x570 vs b550 is the same as x470 vs b450
It's a bit disappointing that the b550 boards that seem more reliable (ex. The tomahawk) are close to $200 when you could still get an x570 for around that price
More SATA ports, SLI, more USB(?) is what you gain from X series chipset
but, that is if the mobo itself decides to get that. Just cuz it's X series mobo doesnt mean it'll have SLI and such
Does anyone have any ideas or fixes to my problem?
yeah
@grizzled sand ill post it again

450 watts power supply
any help? ive been really struggling to try and fix this. Thanks.
oops
that theres your problem
i did some research and it said that if you get the same ram it shouldnt be an issue
also, most motherboards are bad with overclocking on more than one dimm per channel
im not suprised at all that getting 4 dimms to 3200 didnt work
can i get them to 3200 without getting new ram?
you cant use xmp, so you will have to manually set the clock speed
the xmp profile is set up for those 2 dimms specifically, if you mix kits, xmp basically becomes a gamble
oh
that varies based on motherboard
hm
i wonder if the ryzem master utility has ram ocing
wait, what if i used that one mode where you can test ram speeds? i forget what its called
i can overclock ram with ryzen?
you can use the ryzen master utility
did u kill urself?
yes
its called like "Ram try it!" or something like that
so you think i can fix my ram speed with that ryzen tool?
idk
turn off xmp in bios
install this
look around
i dont use a ryzen cpu, so ive never used this
but isnt ryzen just for my cpu? my ram is a whole other company
but from the screenshots, it looks like it has dram stuff
thats the name of the program you goof
"Ryzen Master Utility"
its just a name
oh my b
i was thinking cause the nvidia software only works on nvidia products, like corsaire, razer, etc
yeah, this is different
aight im gonna try this later, thank you so much. your one of the only people that has helped me lmao
so you think i should turn off xmp when i use the ryzen tool?
ok
you want to eliminate all possible sources of a configuration error by leaving as many things stock as possible
I decided on https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-128gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232562?Item=N82E16820232562 as my upgrade kit
Should be here Tuesday then this workstation is done
until 3090ti lol
I hope prices for next gen are decent
Is ryzen master ok. I have been using it on my 2700x and I saw it got up to 4.5ghz. When amd says it’s max boost is 4.3ghz
Well it is ryzens official software so I would hope it's ok
@craggy cipher yes its developed by AMD themselves. You have a good chip if its boosting past 4.3 so should be happy and 🥳
I’m wondering if the 4700x would be worth the extra 60$ . Than what the 3700x is right now
how is this for a mobo?
Dont get a mobo used
That and a power supply are the things that can damage the most stuff if they break
Plus their ripping you off
199 is way to much for a z390
used mobos usually are quite same tbh
pretty sure if they're dead and willing to kill smth when turned on, they wont be able to turn on.
Can anyone here help me out with some questions on ASUS PRIME B450M-A/CSM AM4 AMD B450 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard ?
I want to have 2TB of storage, but PCPartPicker is giving me a warning/note that I don't understand
Pioneer APS-SE20G 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive: "The motherboard M.2 slot #1 shares bandwidth with SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports. When the M.2 slot is populated, two SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports are disabled."
there are sata ports on the mobo for connecting sata SSDs and HDDs, if you are using the m.2 slot 2 of the sata ports will be disabled, if there are enough sata ports for you minus the 2 disabled ones this is not an issue
these are the sata ports on that mobo, when m.2 is in use 2 of them are disabled @distant thunder
if I only plan on using one SSD (probably the Pioneer 2 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive)....is there an issue?
is it only for multiple hard drives?
only if you were using drives to fill up all 6 ports
If you were using 1 drive then no issue
also, i am using an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor. PCPartPicker says there could be a BIOS issue and require an update (which I wouldn't be able to do, seeing how I don't have a spare CPU). Do you know how to find out if the BIOS is up to date on this MOBO?
nearly all mobos available have the bios for 3rd gen on them out of the box, if you buy used then it might be an issue, but new should be fine
awesome, thanks
yea all b450 boards say that in ppcp, its fine
how did i only just now find out about the single color LED corsair ram
i thought it was rgb or nothing
ryzen 7 3700x and rtx 2070 a good combo or would it be better to get a ryzen 5 3600 with the rtx 2070?
either one is fine, 3700x if you need the extra compute
for gaming i'd probably get a 3600 and then upgrade to a 2070 super or get a 5700 xt
would anyting bottleneck?
no
no 3600 is fine with a 2070 super
yeah im just tryna decide on which one to get like which one would last longer?
like later down the road
by the time the 3700x outperforms the 3600 by a large margin they both will be easily beaten by a budget cpu
Hey does anyone know when the asus x570 tuf gaming plus wi-fi motherboard will be back in stock??. Its the only thing I need to complete my upgraded build.
@uncut hull oh and the 3600/3600x is the literal sweet spot for CPU's for higher end gaming in a nice price range.
Don't know about that board, but there are probably some similar motherboards available from other manufacturers. What CPU do you have?
so I dont really need to get a ryzen 7 3700x the 3600 will do just fine?
yea
while also saving some money lol
You might be waiting a bit
Yeah man. The 3600 will run perfectly with a 2070 or 2080
the main reason for upgrading to the 3700x is you need the extra cores for multithreaded heavy workloads like video editing and such
I got the i5 9400f, do u recommend me to get the 3600 aswell. i got the 2070
oh nah i only doing programming so nothing much but say i wanna stream. The 3600 should do fine right?.
9400 is still decent for gaming i wouldnt spend $250-300 for cpu/mobo to replace the cpu
If ur on intel always get an unlocked cpu
im getting low fps in gaming
Programming can actually be nice to have more threads, but not really necessary
and i have a 240 hz monitor
i want the extra boost for gaming what do u recommend me doing
If ur just gonna be gaming and streaming then get the 3600x
my fps is like 180-230
Or a 9th gen intel unlocked
@rose goblet Is there a microcenter near you? Some of them have the motherboard in stock
Would the 3600 do fine with streaming?
@uncut hull yeah I stream with mine
isnt intel better for streaming? i read it somewhere idk much
im also gonna get a B550 when it comes out
180-230 is normal for a 2070
@digital kernel yeah bro there is. I might head over and get it
AMD is better for straming
turn down graphic settings and see if that does anything
Check to see if it's in stock first, but most stores have them
@digital kernel thnx
np
@midnight pollen someone told me before that the fps is limited by the i5 9400f
and that i need to upgrade it to 3600 or 3600x
I average around that fps and i have a 2070 with a oced 8600k
@clear coral gaming is better on ryzen. If u wanna stick with intel then upgrade to an i9 processor
i actually don't mind switching
in general intel gets slightly higher fps in games, but not by much
i just need a new motherboard too
@clear coral streaming is great on my 3600. U wont be disappointed. Just get a board that is 3rd gen ready
Yea, i guess I'll do that
well i think i made up my mind on which cpu im gonna get lol
make sure you use nvenc with streaming
nvenc?
nvenc encoder
Are there any of the newly released mobos that have built in wifi for cheap?
uses nvidia gpu for encoding rather than cpu
Reason: Bad word usage
😑
oh how do you change it?
F.
is it in the nvidia app thing?
one sec
I streamed on my 2200g. That thing is quite a strong apu.
in the app you use for streaming go under output settings
Streaming doesnt necessarily need a powerful gpu. Just a competent CPU
ah so what does the encoder do exactly?
nvenc will take a lot of stress off cpu, so you don't lose nearly as much fps as you do with x264. visual quality of it is nearly the same
x264 generally has more lag while game streaming
ahhh okay so it basically shares the load?
it puts the load on a separate chip that is part of the gpu
there is a bit of an explaination here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApqQhHun_FY
Streaming content to YouTube and Twitch has grown increasingly popular, as have poorly configured streams with low image quality. We're here to help that.

ah okay ty and is it better to have a higher bit rate or lower?
higher bitrate is better quality, twitch limits it to 6000kbps, also you have to have upload speed fast enough to get that bitrate out
25 upload lol
as long as you don't have a lot of internet traffic or data caps it should be fine
also what is the diff from the x570 from the b550?
cause ima preorder one here pretty soon
cpu chipset uplink?
The chipset shares a 4x pcie link to the cpu among everything connected to it.
USB, Ethernet/wifi, audio, etc
i like asus
there bios any good or kinda meh?
I like the bios
Yeah, I like the ROG bios
okay cause ima preorder the B550 asus board
Asus is a terrible company that basically never admits fault in their products. Dont preorder any Asus thing as if it sucks or is riddled with issues, glhf trying to deal with them
Asus will 99.999% change not help you
But, they do make some decent products. However you cant count on it to be good just by the company
a lot of their products are nice, I hear their customer service is not very good. I haven't had to call them yet so i wouldn't know
What’s your take on the Eluktronics preorder laptop (17” 4800H, 2060)?
I’m fairly sure it’s a TongFang product but not sure about what type of MOBO, memory, SSD (NVMe) it will have.
true i was just wondering if their mobos were any good cause knock on wood i havent had any problems with their strix gpus so far
So far I haven’t been able to find out any of the deeper specs such as the SSD read/write speeds, memory CL, BIOS, chip set (e.g. X570, etc.), display response time, etc. Kind of concerning that they offer a “dead pixel” warranty separately purchasable.
Usually laptops have proprietary chipset and bios, and the CPU isn't socketed so it doesn't really matter. Memory latency I can't find, SSD might be an in-house SSD, as they make their own SATA SSDs, not much can be found there either.
wow literally i needed to ask... "can i swap a laptop's chip with a pc's?"
and @hollow thorn might've just answered it already right before me
Some things you can, most things you can't
99% of laptops you acn't
does anyone know the best price to performance b550 board?
theres that 1% of like specially made laptops
We don't even have reviews of b550 yet so I'd just wait
Yeah i just gotta be patient.
@ @naive pendant whatcha doing with it
Casual use,
Roblox, world of Warcraft
I’ll be adding a gt 710 2gb
I have 8gb Ram
Ddr4
CPU and mobo both with ddr4 support?
Yes
Fun
I’ve been looking all over
This is gonna be fun to find.
Do you need wifi?
For $20 more, you would be able to get a better CPU and GPU down the road if you so choose
Details?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hpRzK8/gigabyte-b450m-ds3h-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-b450m-ds3h
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mB4BD3/msi-a320m-a-pro-micro-atx-am4-motherboard-a320m-a-pro
It would be between these two motherboards. The more expensive one will be able to run better CPUs and GPUs. The cheaper one would have to get replaced
Also, when do you need this system by?
Go Giga
That would be my thought too
Yea sure lol,
I’m driving currently
Tesla ftw
Don't text and drive
Nah it’s voice to text
_searches google for tesla crashes-
Oh oof
Can get a 1600af, a 3200g, or an athalon 3000g. What do you think, reaper?
4c4t. oops
I thought it was 2c4t
I'm kinda leaning towards the 1600af
They're both zen+, but 1600 has the two extra cores and smt
Mobo + CPU, $182.98
@naive pendant
Yes
Did you already have case?
So 300 is for the whole system?
8gb Ram on sale crucial ddr4, for 50
And then the processor and motherboard for 182.98
What speed is the ram?
24000
Yes
Sorry one to many 0
So the ram was maybe not the best deal, but that's okay
I’m doing light gaming
What are you doing for storage?
What gpu r u running?
Gt 710 2gb for now
oo
Okay, that thing is not gonna be able to do 4k
@midnight peak nope
Ic
Oh
I just needed help
Yeah ask in #tech-deals
Alright
It's out of stock pretty much everywhere
That's good
Intel for under 200 is probably not happening. You would have to get OEM for that
It's not just them
And yes, for a while all production basically stopped, for most companies in asia.
Does gigabyte make good mobos?
What is that supposed to mean
Some of them are good, some of them are bad
They don't usually fail, but they don't always have the best setup
I was going to try a Gigabyte board for my build and even purchased https://www.gigabyte.com/us/Motherboard/TRX40-AORUS-XTREME-rev-10#kf. Was DOA and would not post.
I mean, mines failed
My z390 aorus ultra's on board audio is broken and the case fan plug ins don't work
all started happening after the warranty ended
Anyone have a recommended X570 board
And yes I know I could use a b450
Pretty much any work, I’m going for a blackwhite aesthetic
I’m debating it as a possibility once we get the 4000s and I run out of things to upgrade
I know that bothers a lot of people when I get a X570 and don’t really plan on icing
@daring patio
Consider x570 tomahawk
Alright, thanks
Budget and good
ooo
a x570 tomahawk is good if you dont wanna oc a 3950x right?
It's good if you DO want to OC a 3950x lol
It's got great VRMs
X570 tomahawk is an extremely competent board at 200$, it can fairly easily handle a 3950x OCed @deft phoenix
And it looks pretty good as well
OC a 3950x... With dry ice or LN2 or smth...
Apart from that basically 99.99% of the overbuilt VRMs on x570 is useless due to how little standard OC potential is in the CPUs
Also that b550 pro4 seems nice. Good sound chip, dual NVMe M2, standard SATA port amount, etc
I know that the times are uncertain, but does anyone know a general date when mother boards and power sources will be in-stock? I chose a very poor time to make a PC, but I don’t intend on quitting just yet.
Their is actually a pretty good stock of B550s still available on Newegg. I’d be a bit worried about Asrock but the rest are likely alright
hi
question
I wanted to get a B450 board with ARGB but they're usually above 150$
I did find the Asrock B450 steel legend for like 115 to 120
Is it a good board or should I shell out the extra cash for the carbon pro AC or the Asus B450-E gaming?
I'm planning on using the Ryzen 5 3600 but I'm wondering if the board will still be good enough in the future for when I want to upgrade my CPU
I have a question, if you run out of RAM between youtube, discord, and your game. What happens when you run out?
paging
so loading and unloading the assets that were supposed to be on your ram gets slower
right?
system tries to balance out memory where it is needed, when you are doing a ram heavy task there is a paging file that is part of storage, if ram usage is near it's limits it can significantly slow down or crash pc in some cases where it is not controlled
here's my question
if SSDs can become fast enough to match memory speeds
can't they be used interchangeably?
memory has been used as storage before, the problem is the way ram works is different, when it loses power all data on it is erased
yup
storage can be used partially as ram, there is a paging file size in settings which is the "ram" as someone said it is a bit slower, if ssd speeds reach near ram speeds it is likely that ram speeds will also be higher, i don't think there will be a point where they can be used like what you say if i am understanding correctly
My game started stuttering in new terrain, so should i get more ram
8gb playing apex at high but not max settings
with discord, youtube, apex, Icue, and voicemod
with r5 1600 and 1050ti non of which are at 100 percent utilization
cpu around 25 gpu at 80
percent utilization
Hey so I was about to get a B550 Phantom, but then it went out of stock. Is there any good replacement for it?
Ill look into it
https://www.newegg.com/msi-b450m-bazooka/p/2MG-000M-002B8?Description=b450m&cm_re=b450m-_-9SIAKRFBCR7023-_-Product Is this gonna be a good replacement? Same price as the B550 I planned to get, and its still in my budget
@cerulean ivy I wouldn’t spend that much on a micro atx refurbished mobo
@cerulean ivy I wouldn’t spend that much on a micro atx refurbished mobo
well can you link me one?
Sure
Damn everythings out of stock, I was gonna recommend this https://www.bestbuy.com/site/gigabyte-b450-aorus-pro-wifi-socket-am4-usb-3-1-gen-1-amd-motherboard-with-led-lighting/6409170.p?acampID=633495&cmp=RMX&loc=RXXSi6W6vxyOUEo0MKVSfWfHUki37b0pxxqvU80&ref=198&refdomain=pcpartpicker.com&skuId=6409170

Sorry lag
Damn. My pre order was at the top of the bunch on VRAM tests. Hardware unboxed has a video up. I got the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro coming
hey guys im building my first pc and i wanted to get the ASrock b450m pro4 motherboard and ryzen 5 3600 cpu, how do i know if it needs a bios update and if so is there different mATX motherboard sub $100 that doesnt need a bios update to support the cpu
I have that motherboard. It came with zen2 support out of the box
will 3600mhz work on a b350 mobo with a ryzen 5 3600?
Very impatiently waiting for that shipping notification. Those preorder MoBo where listed available for today
a lot of things are listed for ordering but not in stock atm. could be some time
It's outside of the design specification, so it would have to be accomplshed with overclocking. It will probably work, I;m just not sure how well
oh true i mean its the only spare mobo i got until i get a b550 lol
If you're going to be upgrading soon, then it's worth it
You might have to run the ram a bit slow while you wait for the b550, but that's fine
ye sadly they all sold out super quick
does anyone know when the new ryzen series is going to come out?
XT or zen3?
@rose sonnet What CPU?
What's the budget, and how much ram do you need?
both?
like is it wise to buy a ryzen 5 3600 right now or wait lets say a couple months for the next gen cpus to come out @digital kernel
Forknight battle royale
If you just want 128, I'd just go with 4x32
Aight
What will you be doing?
Everything
Gaming, content creation, streaming? Everything means different things to different people.
Aight, then I'd go for a ryzen 9 for a higher end build. If you want to go all out, have a huge budget, and do a ton of heavy multi-threader work, go threadripper
Once you pick the cpu you should pick the mobo
So everything
Then probably r9
Ok
or an r7 for a cheaper option
I would go for a b550 board once they get in stock. Some of those look to have great value
O wish ASUS had a 8 slot DDR4 Ram
I need a board that can fit 2 Geforce Gigabite NVIDA GTX 2080 and 8 slot DDR4 Ram
For a Ryzen 9
Or for a Intel i9
Or i7
i9 and i7 are slightly better in games, but if you do streaming I'd go AMD
And why do you want 8 slots? You can get 128GB with 4 slots
Also, what size are your 2080 cards? Like how many slots
any atx motherboard with at least 2 pcie 16x slots should be able to run 2
and afaik no mainstream board has 8 ram slots for amd or intel

Looking for help, I have a RTX 2070. Im starting to buy parts for a big upgrade im doing in the fall. (upgrading RAM, CPU, MOBO,PSU,CASE) and im looking to get the Ryzen 7 3800x or the Ryzen 7 3900x. My first question is there much of a difference between the two for $100 price range? and My second question is, what would be a good motherboard to go with that. not looking to break the bank but my price range isnt cheap. Thanks
the 3900x is ryzen 9, not 7. I would go for a b550 board once they are restocked.
sorry ryzen 9.
Ryzen 3900 has more threads and cores, ryzen 3800 has faster clocks
so for $100 difference between a ryzen 9 3900x and a ryzen 7 3800x going for the ryzen 9 3900x would be better for gaming?
Wait, I mispoke
also im not streaming or anything. competitve gaming is it
