The funny thing, it seems that Sora is the only one who is not a "textbook" for Ryoshu like other apprentices. A while ago saw a good analysis of how you can understand what their teachers did to them.
Lucio knows how to 1v1 but he is doing it by the book, so Ryoshu knows the moves and easily counter, so she has + to clashes.
Ren is taught how to counter Ryoshu so he is using defense and tunneling on her forgetting about surroundings, - clash power against anyone who is not Ryoshu.
Albina, no passive for Ryoshu, predictable and clunky, can't really move with agility, has a massive armour to not get hurt, don't touch the art.

So Sora seems the best apprentice, brainwashed by Index, has EGO, Mang, Shin, does whatever Rien says. He has a good "dog"

Also it's funny how people started to think that Rien is a good guy after that last scene with Ryoshu
