im in the same spot as you, same mac. let me know if you get fixed
This might help? :
Interestingly, this also seems to affect MacPro 5,1 (A1289) machines circa 2010-2012 too. I had this problem and instead of using the slick NVRAM command above, I made a physical 10.13.6 installer from the image and reinstalled from that! Wish I'd seen this earlier.
Shouldn't OCLP allow you to install Catalina anyway?
Actually on the OCLP Discord they informed me that it doesn’t support Catalina (specifically just that version) and I have to use Dosdude1’s utility for 10.15.6 and non-Metal.
So, I’ll be giving that a go as soon as I can quit work for the day. Turns out I was in the right place after all.
OCLP is just for 11, 12, 13, and 14 now.
Well… I got to the point where it should show this custom APFS boot loader half way through the install, and instead I get this:
The example on the left is what the video explains I should get, the screen on the right is my MacPro… after the first short stretch of installing.
Is there something wrong with my brand new Samsung 2TB drive I bought for this project?
Powered the machine off, stared at it INTENTLY for 2 minutes. Powered it back on and now it seems like it’s continuing normally. Should I be worried about boot stability?
Another one of these….
Sometimes it boots, sometimes it’s this. Ever seen this behavior before?
I have the same mac. I installed the patcher earlier this year after i upgraded the RAM and SSD. i have been able to run smoothly.\
What would happen if i update the OS using the apple store?
Idk
