If it's about HHA score, i'd suggest more matching colors. Always try to limit your main colors to 3 or 4 matching colors. Dark colors and light colors usually don't mix very well.

For example, changing your floor and wallpaper to lighter colors would look better in this scenario.

I like to do basic rooms on the main floor like a living room, bathroom, and kitchen. I use the other room as a study / crafting room, and the basement is going to be a samurai shrine thing. The basement you can just get creative and make it whatever you want. It could be an arcade, a zombie apocalypse safe room, or a temple where you make sacrifices to your pet turtle😂

Just work on collecting lots of DIYs and Items (cataloguing is a good way to start). The more tools at your disposal, the more fun you can have. Start with a small area first, a single room even, no terraforming, and build on from there. (Maybe try recreating a cool sitting area you've found online or something)
