I think it might be a good idea to already start collecting weeds, wood (for building fences and other wood-y stuff) and growing trees for your swamp!
Obviously, you'll need to flatten the land and add a lot of water, but it isn't a bad idea to start preparing!

Maybe you can already try to plan out a layout for your swamp?
(maybe, like, a lot of water, with a lot of "islands" connected by bridges?)
It could also help to already look for villagers that fit your theme, if you don't have 10 already!
Crocodile Villagers would be a nice fit, I think...

Trashbags, tires, oil barrels, and any browns/blacks to put together for a more dark look. Add more color if you want to clutter it. My DA is 6667-1754-6019 if you want to check it out. I'm not trashcore but I love trash items and would classify my island as natural trash. I use a lot of trash piles in certain areas to give it a junky/abandoned vibe. Sorry I don't have any images on my computer to share

My go-to trick with "the path" is to invert it wherever there are two or more adjacent "full dirt" tiles, thus creating patches of green in the middle of "the path."

Good idea! Just make a big forest, then when you want to lay the path down you can 'carve' through it. Don't be afraid to move a few bushes and trees if you need to though.

Water custom designs are a whole other strain of difficulty, since you still need to place actual rivers in places (unless you don't mind your map having no rivers, which in my opinion looks a little weird)

In my opinion white mums dont really look great, if you want white try roses! Theyre super white! It depends on what your asthetic is if your looking for cream try tulips but you already have yellow tulips, so may switch them out with yellow mums and white tulips

There are 3 ways I think I could try to do, (number one being common sense)

1. Try my best to create a river to my ability
2. Use a water/swamp path and mix various items in

tip that worked for me: Just connect your rivers in a straight angle, and then adjust for curves after. doing it all on the go is difficult

i say do not reset! instead try and seclude resident services from the left and top sides and make the right side and bottom side open. also make a path through that cliff to the right of where your location marker is to resident services if you cannot think of anything
