@oblique jolt hi! i have a cottagecore island and i’d say these were the most important things imo: lots and lots of cedar trees, lots of flowers especially hybrids, barrels, wooden signs and wooden clothing lines are my favourite things to dot around. hyacinth lamps are the best and mush lamps too when November comes. i’d also suggest that you use the wooden, stone or dirt paths or The Path which is a custom design. on my island i don’t have a continuous path, i have different path textures in circles and put them along the way a path would go if i had one. i’d also suggest natural looking rivers and lots of water. hope this helps, dm me if you need any more advice

@sweet dome it really depends on your situation, but a lot of people like to put statues outside of it, and those would fit nicely in a garden. You’ll probably want a one-tile center so keep that in mind, if you want symmetry. Asymmetrical layouts light look cool too!

Start with sections of your island, so start on town hall, then work on nooks etc. try not to tackle everything at once, do it piece by piece

That’s what I did too I started by moving all my shops and everything (I actually ended up moving them a few times tho😅) but it definitely helps and then I just worked from the back of my island and slowly worked my way to the front, paths are a good way to connect areas too @junior dome

I get u tho for me it was so hard to start just remember there’s no rush, find inspo that helps too , I found a lot from Pinterest to get a basic idea

@junior dome YouTube videos are good place for inspiration. There are a lot of different speed build videos for different areas that people might want on their island such as residential areas so that may help you. I have gotten a great deal of inspiration from the videos I have found. Good luck and take it one day and one area at a time 🙂

Use garden lamps/glass candle holder to light up the area, idk.

You can also replace the country fence at the top with stalls and make it a small but simple cafe area. Overused but fits comfy.

That or one of those outdoor mini libraries people come up with. Really cool idea.

I took an approach where there are distinct areas all over with their own theme, then just tied in

like disneyland's different areas.

I think it's nice if you aren't sold on cottage core to only do 50% to 60% of your island in it (I did dark). That's what I did so half my island is civilized and half is more natural. Also the stones make a great entrance into your more heavily forested area. For example the stone arch, tall rock, and flat rocks makes it look super cool

The like broken brick/decayed brick paths that are out there are great for that since it's super versatile and the path is more suggestive so you can add weeds or whatever between it

My first first "draft" of this island I had Doc up high on this cliff house in the woods by himself

and on the edge of the cliff there was an easel and a paintset and on the painting was a portrait of Cookie... whose house was all the way across the canyon like he was creepin' on her.
