@uneven girder start on one area at a tome. Start with the entrance. Have all the buildings on the beach. Focus maybe on a theme but you don’t have to stick to it. My overall theme is tropical resort but I have mini themed areas for my villagers

Also decide on if you want to scatter your villagers or not. It’s best to scatter them so they have the best opportunity to spread out and explore.

Honestly my biggest tip is to not go too geometric - have some room for variation and making it look organic

I think it's bc the variation breaks things up a bit and can make paths less monotonous! I have stone designs around my lakes and I found having the exact same pattern of stones over and over again didn't look as good as having a few different stone patterns!

What is the obsession people have with wanting RS to be in line with the airport? My RS is about 9 squares away and to the right and I've made a pretty good entrance imo. You can make paths wind and it looks so much more natural than it being a straight line.

terraformed path looks great, I love those. Personally I would add plant QRs on top of the paths, but I am not sure if you like that look :/ A lot of it is just personal preference I suppose, but for sure add some decorative items and plants! Looks great @dim knoll

As someone with a terribly placed RS, I feel you. the other variation I had before this was a band area in front of the RS. The positive of that was that all my villagers would often play instruments in time with music since they frequented that area often. The negative was that there wasn't really enough space for it

@pure swallow My villagers all live on the two "main" sections of the island, with most near resident services and the shops and the other's just a little off from there across a river. They all have their own gardens of varying sizes with pieces of furniture that match their personality/colour scheme.

@shell grotto I keep the trees if I know exactly where I'm putting them otherwise I just chop them down and buy more when I want more. If you've not many fruit trees or fruit though, it's best to keep them to the side and save up on fruit so you can plant more in future.

@shell grotto when I redid my island I moved everything like buildings and stuff to a section of my island that I wasn't working on. Obviously you aren't going to complete your island in one day so decide what your going to build on first and move trees etc to the part you aren't.

@shell grotto I know what you mean haha. It's overwhelming when you just have complete flat land lol. It makes it easier to just take it in baby steps. Really try and make one little bit of your island great and worry about the rest of it as you get to it. It will come together eventually and you'll be so much more satisfied with it knowing that you've not rushed and done too much at once

@mellow axle lots of ppl have done lil cliffs, detours to the left/right, or rivers so you use bridges to connect over! that way you make a curved path rather than just one straight line, gives you more space to decorate

ah yes sorry, forgot to ask. is there a faster way to clear custom paths if you're flattening your island? if you delete them directly from your nook phone, it results in a blank white square right?

Hey! Opinions on my library? I added a stack of books and a tiny library as well but otherwise this is what I have so far
@woven drift I think you could maybe put some dark wood flooring on the library, I tried this, I'm still improving it

@woven drift I love your terraforming! Id say maybe put down some sort of floor or tile under the library so it looks like its own separate space! If you're looking for extra accessories for the table, maybe a coffee cup and typewriter

@shell grotto I would highly suggest making your own transparent design instead of taking someone elses, it only take 10seconds to make and the ability to edit it to not be transparent to figure out where you have the design is crucial.
