@boreal isle It does make sense! I did that with my island to begin with. I wanted to restart because it made me not want to play at all but instead of restarting, I just tore everything down and started fresh again. It took me days but it's possible to do! I didn't want to lose all my diys and villagers. If you feel that strongly about restarting then you should do it but taking the time to tear everything down is also an option!

My island theme is more of a cottage core/natural theme! I am not sure what I am going to do, because I like the idea of having them closer together but it would also help to support my theme if I split them apart.

Imo some villagers (because of what their house exterior looks like) makes more sense to be solo and would fit nicely in a separate natural area :) and others (esp some of the snooty houses) looks super high class and belong in a small neighborhood ~

@boreal isle yeah it was tough, but it helped me get an idea of the flow of my island so to speak? I found when I made my island very symmetrical I had way more space to work with- so I knew where I could put small decorations. But agree with everyone else, work slowly! I also had way too many flowers which were getting in the way and ended up binning most of them.

@zealous folio I personally like to scatter my villagers for a couple reasons. 1) because they get to have their own themed areas and 2) because they are more willing to explore the other parts of the island when they are visiting their friends.. so you’ll get to see them walking to other areas

It depends on what you like @zealous folio I’m a fan of having spread out houses because it encourages the villagers to explore different parts of the island and you also have more room to personalize their houses rather than a cramped 5*7 that you can only throw so much customization into. But some people like having a more uniform town like area. It also gives you more room throughout your island to decorate as you like because the houses and their outside decorations don’t take up as much space. My island for example is predominantly taken up by specialized areas for each villager, and if I had all their houses in a town instead I would have had more room for other ideas.

I had the issue where I essentially cut my island in half with an enormous waterfall horizontally across the map, the rest of my island was on the first level and the waterfall was level three, behind the waterfall I lost a decent amount of space because I couldn’t see it. I ended up filling the area with a river. 😞

@pallid sentinel i prefer to scatter my villagers. i gave them themed areas and jobs. it also helps the villagers explore other parts of the island when they are visiting their friends. but its also popular to put them together in one residential area because its easy to access them. it just depends on your theme. if you want something more natural, then scatter them. but if you have a modern theme, then putting them in on area is fine as well

@rocky tulip not a lot of people can just go over there because they also have to work on their island and come up with their own design as well. someone earlier came and even offered to pay someone. but its already stressful for us to design our own islands. the best we can do is just try to give you advice by just taking a picture and asking for feedback.

I think do a list with the things or places you want in your island helpa a lot. In base of than you can organize your map better. For example..i knew I wanted my museum in the 3rd floor whith 2stairs and a botanical garden to reach them, in base of that i just decide to put in place with space enough and just start

In my case. Its very important to me to have all spots on the island well connected su i just started with the mainly roads and then just put all the things i wanted in the places i think it suits best 😊 but my map y very simmetrical..

So when they showed me the photos I thought ah the airport and the main building are close right now so I can develop the rest of the island and if I need to move it, I can later. usually, people put the shops near the RS, and the museum is usually higher, with like an archaeological area...

@hidden knot I think that entrance is honestly just missing some trees and decorative bushes/weeds. It feels a bit empty despite how many hyacinth lamps there are, so it's just that you need some stuff to crowd it and give height to the feature
