@fringe carbon kinda late but for flowers a nice arrangement is red, blue, and white flowers since it matches the museum exterior! This is just the middle part of my museum but I used red hydrangea flowers and blue hydrangea bushes :)

if you curve your rivers toward the center you really can have a decent amount of space on either side of the outlet

@spring stone I haven't finished my forest yet either but I recommend using a mixture of bushes/flowers or weeds! I also used log stools and the log bench to make it seem like a tree has fallen. I think it makes it seem really natural! I planted the trees first and then designed around them until I was happy with it

The only thing that was missing in my eyes was something to fill up that back area but I like that the bookshelf is the only large/tall piece of furniture there so the idea of filling that area up with a table and small items sounds good to me. @eternal laurel I like the waterfall aspect in the back so you should definitely keep that , it depends on what you like and what your going for , here are some photos, I recommend looking at ideas on Pinterest etc to get a feel for what you like and then take bots and pieces and incorporate it in your island design!

@eternal laurel glad i could help! It’s always best to take time and look at inspiration pictures so you can get a feel for what you like! I recommend favorite places like country’s or locations irl that inspire you and trends like cottagecore etc that give a natural but cute vibe! Anything that gets the creative juices flowing!

And I unfortunately don’t have nova lights or mush lamps. I haven’t hit fall seasons yet. My problem is I can figure out how to make the walk from airport to guest services nice. My original design was structure at entrance and turns to whimsical once you cross the bridges

@tribal jetty something I’ve noticed with cottagecore is that the path isn’t blocky but more natural and smooth, try making the path like if it was just natural , maybe add some trees to guide you!

Is it in the grassy space next to the airport and river mouth? You could make a fair, i put teacup rides, a climbing wall, sweet machine, football etc to make it all tie in. You could make a market place with a bunch of stalls for fossils, bugs, fish, flowers and diving. A restaurant or cafe. Maybe a pool area? I did a rectangle pool with waterfalls going into it and sun beds so it looked like a little vip section 😛

I know I'm super late but you can add some flowers and weeds there.
But if that isn't enough, you can try having a little sitting area(a bench) and a tiny library.

You could also add ducks and a birdbath but I'm not sure if that will work out! :)

@woven drift for aesthetic purposes, you could put gnomes everywhere (gnome tea parties in the forest, gnome gardens, etc.) and use some of the Zodiac animals as enchanted forest critters.

I also really like little islands everywhere for the rustic look. Lots of raised little areas with different furniture/plants/fences/whatnot decorating them

@river latch i personally like to split up my villagers for 2 reasons 1) i can give them their own themed spaces and it doesnt matter really how large their spaces are to me personally, 2) they are more willing to move and explore other parts of the island while they are visiting their friends. i used to have them in one area, but they never ventured out. but now since i moved them away from each other, they are exploring a lot more.

@river latch if you don't mind the placements of your plaza and river mouths in your island rn, don't restart. You can always switch out villagers, and it's easier to not need to go thru all the requirements and getting nmts and bells as a starter. I suggest to start in sections when you remodel and add things as you go; it gives you little satisfactions and you can always come here to get advice & show off! :)

@river latch dont stress too much honestly. it just took a while to figure things out properly. just start with one area at a time honestly. maybe work on the nook and ables plaza area before moving to other areas. and then start working on your villagers yard to figure out what theme or ideas you can get it from their house and personality. heres a few examples of how i used my villagers houses to incorporate it into the island.

@cloud thorn that makes total sense! first i would probably add a couple weeds here in there for a more natural look. to get the goth maybe put some black flowers near the path, or in them (ill send an example for the flowers) . you could also get some clovers or leaf path codes to add an extra touch. and if your still working on the back you could close of the place with cliffs to get an enclosed space, and have a small passageway to wherever you want, thats probably what i would do
