personally a con of mine would be that they're over used but popular so at the same time you will be able to find a lot of amazing custom patterns and theme ideas rather than trying to think up of things without any inspo but it all depends on you and what you wanna do and how you wanna do it @wispy tiger

@wispy tiger If you’re just starting out I’d experiment with a bit of both, do some areas urban, the others more natural. Eventually you’ll develop a preference and can then remake previous areas to fit.

@sullen sable every flower you can get, preferably hybrid only, scattered in a random pattern, but not right next to each other. Tropical areas have tons of vibrant colors due to humidity, so there wont be that many black flowers, but a few can add to the depth. You get what I'm sayin?

It might look good If you combine that with bushes and trees, to make it look more like nature

Lol, thanks! And no, the grass under the bamboo was me just not knowing that bamboo would grow in placed sand paths. (I didnt even know sand paths could grow coconut trees until just recently.) I'm waiting till I have some more bamboo shoots, then I'm gonna replant it, but add sand under the bamboo this time.

I grouped up my cubs (pekoe, Judy, stitches), I kind of grouped up Marshal and Merengue. And Zucker has his own area. Switching Ankha over in place of Elmer and she’ll have her own place. And I haven’t fixed the top part of my map. But I’m giving Tia her own area as well - so personally I think it’s good to mix it all up!

@supple cipher I know this is gonna sound a bit silly, but in terms of advice I'd recommend working on small parts of your island at a time. Eg, starting with the entrance to your island to give yourself an idea of what you want to do and the general style - you can always change it later. It's just a good starting point since it's more of a foundation - then develop everything around that. It's kinda what I did

@supple cipher personally I recommend terraforming as you go, if I had tried to do it all at once it would have been SO overwhelming. By doing it as you go, you start to develop cute areas much faster, and having something you’re proud of to share is a great motivator

@supple cipher depends on how you work. for instance, I wanted to make natural waterfalls so I picked the area I knew I wanted to work in and experimented. Got a lot of great "aha" moments during that time! planning things out all the way COULD be potentially discouraging/frustrating of it's your first time ever terraforming... because you don't know what's possible yet 🙂

for example, using fences and panels to give it a feel of a reading room with a desk and a typewrite and maybe a fishing rod stand next to the waters. you could use wooden panel QR tiles to give it a better feel on the fishing dock

it depends on what you're going for i guess. personally, i like giving each of my villagers their own spaces and designing it based on their persona or character design.

Genji lives alone on an Asian-inspired cliff. My child-like villagers have their own space with a little park. They all have their own gardens. I found that it helps fill up space!
