I usually just put some random objects that fit the general vibe of my Island/the area I'm building and arrange them so they look pretty. Good fillers for me has been trees and bushes. Also small objects like buckets, little chairs, Coffee tables etc. You can also fill empty looking space with designs on the ground C:

@glad crater my smoothie bar is huge but you could always condense it. As for the surfshop I used surfboards and put 3 on each side of a stall. Some people decorate the stall with a laptop or a type writer to look like a cash register

@shrewd condor yeah! I do have some grouped together. So Diana and Raymond are with my library on the top left. Marshal has his cafe and merengue her diner/bakery in the bottom left. My cubs (pekoe, stitches and Judy) are being grouped in the top right. Ankha (will be getting her in place of Elmer) has her own area on the middleish of my map. And then idk where to put Tia yet. Think I might put her by the library as a tea shop

@terse vale How far in are you? I usually recommend working with what you have bc if you restart you won't have any bells/your villagers/DIYs and you'll have to unlock terraforming and everything all over again. There are many creative solutions for a close resident services, keep looking and trying new things and eventually you'll come to find something you like (:

btw idk if y'all have talked about this app already but it's free and online based. No trees or flowers unfortunately but even so it's a great app thats really easy to use and lets you build to see how things will look in AC! Only 1 fence, bridge and incline type but it's got all paths, water and cliff builders, all buildings placable etc- it really helps imo.
I struggle being able to visualise well, so this helps me be able to see what something will look like without spending a TON of time in ac.

@tall echo I would recommend watching some youtube tours or finding inspiration for terraforming that you like. it will be easier to know how you want to terraform an area as well once you have an idea for what you want to put there. I think you have a great base map, don't restart! (restarting isn't going to make things feel any less empty)

@keen basin mine RS is pretty close and to the left, i used cliffs around a pathway that makes it seem longer than it actually and decorated around that

@full creek you can ask others for advice but no one would be able to help design or build your island. The most someone else can do is get rid of flowers and I think get rid of trees

@visual drum If you make the middle island bigger that should work. But itll have to be a good size bigger. The bridges dont like being close together at all. The one thatll be the biggest fuss is the diagonal one and the top bridge
