@thorn saddle I rarely take inspo from other people's islands, I only use them as a reference for waterscaping. What I do is I look up pictures of real-life landscapes/architecture and I mimic that instead. That way, you're not comparing yourself to other people.

make one area at a time, don't stress about terraforming everything at once. just perfect one bit at a time and it will inspire you to design the area next to it

that's how I did mine. I would fully terraform and decorate one small area then went to do the area right next to it

@thorn saddle Personally, My island was, as still is, flower hell before I bulldozed it, so I suggest you: 1) Work on one area at a time. (as mentioned) 2) Don't design around the existing structures of your island but remake the entire island so you have space and you have more freedom. This included leveling all the cliffs for me. I'm still not there yet but I took down most of my cliffs and rivers then restarted.

Remember the progress you've made and know that someone you don't even know has lurked here, looked at your island, and felt jealous and self conscious of their own island. It looks so much better than you think it does, on top of that, the fact that you're still working on your island means that it's still improving and going to look even better with time; in the end though remember, this is a relaxing game, fish, catch bugs, do what you want, it's a game for your enjoyment make sure you have fun with it

Basically I removed my entire residential area and moved them to their own part of the island except 4 of them. But I did take pictures of 1 area that was the main part that was fixed. Instead of the residential area, i put in a water bungalow resort
