I have also seen people "hide" the RS within mountains, or putting mountains in front of it with a pathway leading through to the RS

Yeah, I totally get that tbh.. I am doing cottagecore as well, and then I see like japanese themed islands or french themed or anything else and it looks amazing haha

But Idk, it's easier said than done, but you can try out some different themes and see what you like most. You can make different themes on different part of your island as well, and in the end just go for whatever you enjoy making the most

Id say group in areas, like small communities or in a big area so you can have room for builds while making a little town @manic eagle but that's up to you, but yeah I'd say put where they make sense to be but not too spread out that it makes it a chore to build around

@visual stirrup I know a lot of people like to raise up the back portion of their island, but if you move your hills forward a bit you'll be able to utilize the big flat rocks on the north side of the island. They make for really beautiful little reading/picnic spots and nobody really uses them!

@manic eagle here are some items I feel like I commonly see in cottagecore entrances: barrel, wooden bucket, wooden stool, stack of books, log stakes/country fences, mush items, little flower designs, garden wagons, pots, and wells. in case you needed additions to the flowers/shrubs/trees

@past elk I put a crafting table and a trash can in my yard for convenience sake, and I have a memorial for my villagers who moved out. On the southern part not pictured, I have crafting materials sitting on benches
