@sage fulcrum id personally plan out your waterways first and then start moving your houses. you can make the left river mouth turn upwards and build a pond/waterfall area there in the top left

I have this big area and my original idea was like a little hangout spot, but turns out it’s too big and it looks awkward if I have everything there. I tried making my rivers and ponds fun and plentiful. It’s still an open concept. I don’t have roads or pathways, but I have custom rock paths that don’t show up on the map.

@sage fulcrum it's totally possible to use those openings! try not to overthink it, and also try to use past maps as references rather than dismissing them just because your resident services and airport are in a different place. i understand why it could be frustrating

That is really close! You could make a horizontal path that runs in the first 3 squares, then plant trees/fences behind that path. Then you can make that path approach the RS from the side, making any asymmetry less noticeable.

@woven drift I try to abstain from using a 3 wide road that's completely straight, try to add a cherry/apple tree here and there to match your red/pink theme. the star fragments and tall mushroom doesn't really belong there. It feels weird. Try changing the fences up, how about the oriental fence (red Japanese looking fence). And I can't stress this enough, flowers. They're bunched up and everywhere. Sure, it's nice to have them everywhere, but they're all bunched up in squares/lines. Try to separate them a bit, this will give it a more natural feeling to your island, since flowers don't grow in rows all bunched up in nature like that.

@foggy geode Make a little waterfall! That's what I did but I have more space for it posted something I did for my lucky cat, you can see it if you scroll up a tad, I suggest something like that

@desert lion try changing the design you have on the ground (dirt).
Dirt isn't the most appealing, try other designs if you can, I'd recommend something like cobblestone, dark wood, or just back to grass. Round off the edges by clicking the placement button on the same piece twice (can only be done on corners). I would say a few flowers here and there on top of the cliffs would be nice. and terraform the topmost cliff to connect the tops with water (water terraform on highest peak). Check how that looks first though. Combining the waterfalls to the same source of water can make it feel more natural, and may make it look better.

Guys i got a question. I need some inspo, for a plaza that all whites with statues in the middle of a pond, and the pathing be a somekind of white/creamy marble path. I tried googling for "statue garden" and all pics seems to be related with foresty-vibe. Any help what i should look for?

Just change the flooring to cobblestone or something. Gray looks pretty good with a cream color.

@pliant moth some people like to just grab a lot of stalls and put a few things on it, and around it in front, or behind, sometimes both if you want it to look like storage in the back. Try designs to make it look natural, because stores don't look alike irl y'know? Change things up, don't have a couple areas showing off the same stuff.

Is it normal for my island to lag when I'm walking through my Japanese street market area? Is there a way to reduce lag other than remove a lot of the items?

@pliant moth you also can work with simple panels and costimize then with bags or other shoping items

@vernal lake Try putting brick fences around the back, maybe a few tiles out, like 3, and connect the edges together, so 3 up, on both edges as if you are extending the shop, and connect them, create a 1 by 3 hole, and place the brick fence facing the wall to create a little gate like entrance. Put some cardboard boxes, and a trash can in there to make it look like a garbage area/loading area. (use brick floor designs to match the fencing. @ me if you have any questions!
