It definitely depends on your theme, but i feel like making a little island like that purely for the museum might just be a waste of space lol (coming from someone that had a tiny island just for one structure and then removed it)

i had that feeling too, but if you really think about it, your island doesn't seem as small anymore. you can also make it seem bigger by planting trees to seperate areas. i thought my island was small until i really started to appreciate the many different sections it has.

I have a woodland thing going on too and it's better to scatter the houses imo. it gives a nice variation that is very fitting for a woodland because chances are the woodland is going to be assymetrical too. trees that are diagonal just look better and fuller
u also get to do something different for each area. it's a lot more room for air to do it without symmetry and allows u to do different stuff

@tulip plaza (Sorry, I uploaded the wrong screenshot lol) Not sure if this helps but I'm going for the same thing as you. Mine's currently in progress but I'm pretty sure my paths are 100% done. All the dots are dirt paths and the actual paths are stone (the block of pathing on the top left is sand, that's my zen garden). I've used stone steps connecting to the paths and the other inclines are natural. All bridges are stone. I'm gradually working on adding more water and small cliffs as I decorate the island. I completely remade mine a few days ago so it's not done yet haha! I plan on making all the dotted paths forest themed

@normal idol I wouldn’t sell them if I were you. Different flower colors can also be used to section off different parts of the island or give off a different vibe. They also fill up empty spaces quite nicely without the island feel cluttered.

Eg. some people's houses will have those blue windflowers i don't use too much or those black tulips. That said, i pretty much ignore the non-hybrid flowers except white lilies, mums and hyacinths

@eternal laurel Are you sure you want waterfalls, the problem may be the waterfalls/cliffs especialy with a close RS to the airport, a flat/flatter layout can be as beautiful as those with waterfalls and cliffs. If you want a way to block or divert a path to the RS use trees, bushes, or fences instead than a cliff face

@rugged rain I have a circular spot with my seasonal clock in the space below this picture, this is my museum area entrance. The split level fossil viewing area is to the right over the bridge. It occupies a spot that is above a river which is above my resident services 😄

Not to annoy anyone, but I'm having extreme issues. I dont know where to began terraforming my island. I have a theme sorta (cute forest, lunar, fairy type vibe) but I dont want to have everything flat nor just one big cliff area. I dont know how to make everything flow together
With that much space, how can I decorate the outside of each house so that it matches each villager??? They all are quite similar in color and personality so it'd be okay if they share yards ^^
