@austere heath I might do that, my only concern is having to waste the time breeding them all again (even if i keep a few of each to clone) because I realised before that although they take up a lot of space now, once i start really planting them where i want them to go they run out really quickly

@restive tangle It's ok to stick to one theme, many people do it. Multiple themes are good too in which case you could use this as a transition area. Mix the themes to smoothly transition from Theme A to Theme B

@restive tangle yeah you should! Heh. So when I was doing my micro environments for cottagecore/forest themes, here were the rules I followed:

1. Have a tree
2. Have 2 custom paths (leaves/stones/magical sparkles)
3. Have one fall item (mush lamp, mush stool )
4. Have 2 kinds of flowers in theme, random.
5. Two kinds of fences (i usually use log stakes and country fence)
6. Choose a theme color (mine's brown, green and white with little hints of mushroom). It makes it easier to pick decor items like barrels, wooden stools etc.

@restive tangle haha yeah! The houses on the beach are because I haven't terraformed their areas 😫 But this is one specific residential area where all the homes are red haha. So I just build them on an incline and gave them one common area, which is a waterfall and a picnic area 😋

@woven drift Unfortunately you're limited here. I think the best approach would be to remove some of the water and make it more like a river, that way you could connect a single bridge up.

With city themes you can incorporate heavily terraformed areas by making them “viewing centers” kinda, like with the iron fence and binoculars

@night gorge I would either put a bush on the cliff or put some flowers by the bushes already in place (maybe both), just so that it feels a little more integrated. You could also replace one of the bushes with a log stool to add more texture.

so i decided to try my hand at designing a more european style island since i think thats the direction i want to go in.....i want to include lots of water canals, a seasonal park (with all the seasonal shrubs - love that idea) large main roads surrounded by my island's fruit tree (pears) a nice fruit orchard leading to the museum, villager homes surrounded by canals (didnt really design anything for the players homes yet) ....what do you guys think, suggestions, changes, ideas???

@main hazel I think you should definitely put some stone paths down under the instruments area, place some fences to fence off the 'stage' and put some chairs to sit and watch, you can also add some placed clothes to represent people

What fencing should I use for the main attractions of my island? (Around resident services, houses, etc) I’m using Zen fencing rn because I wanted a Japanese look, but I don’t really like them now. Also what pathing should I use? I’m using stone rn but I was thinking about switching to terra-cotta...

@karmic tundra I typically change the fencing depending on what i'm doing around it, around my plaza i put stone, most of the city area of my town has zen and cafes etc. in forested areas has country and hedge fencing
