Tough question to answer, @smoky cedar ! My advice would be to pick a space you'd like to create (cafe, diner, park, pottery studio???) and try your hand at it. Much easier to work on a specific small section than try to tackle all of it at once

Natural theme is good. But that's only because there's a lot of freedom within it, and the game handles it well. Props to those who can do cottagecore though, that takes a lot of planning and effort

@quick kraken Your best bet is to try and go for a curved entrance to route through to Resident services. Good thing is, you can go with a really cozy &decorated entrance. once you have the entrance built, the rest of it comes easily

@quick kraken Oof, yeah, my starting layout is nearly identical to yours. River mouths, airport + resident service placement, secret beach, etc. I wish I had known ahead of time that river mouths can't be moved, I would've picked something else.

When I started terraforming, yeah I pretty much started fresh. Now my left river travels to the back of the island. And the right one will just be a big lake in the bottom corner.

I feel like this is prob trash compared to most of the things I see here. But I've finally been happy with terraforming lately. This is one of my favorite spots. It's tucked behind my fruit orchard. Split paths to the zen garden and a little mountain trail to the campsite.

Terraforming is fun and scary, leaving aside the fact your villagers WILL be in your way all the time meanwhile you work, it also might be scary because outside is too many ideas and possibilitys to make, I always recommend pick a theme for your Island and stick to that or else, it will be a mix of several things
