Alright so I’ve reseted my game, I’m trying to find an island with resident services right in the middle of the island and with it leading directly inline with the rs entrance, this is what I’ve got, it’s almost in the middle, should I use it or try again?

i'm not 100% sure there is one with double south river mouths + airport that leads directly, tile perfect, to the RS though that's right in the middle, maybe? iirc the airport location is a little bit more fixed vs the RS placement .. i'd have to dig through the data mining section back earlier this month but there are fixed points for the airport
this is an example of what I mean, RS is more centered but the airport is off centered. i think the airport doesn't even have the chance to be right under that RS placement with this map (idk what his starting map was)

that's cool! i haven't personally seen one yet. the airports seem to be fixed at certain points for different map layouts. i've seen the airport being between numbers 4-5 as shown in both my map and the other ones i listed, and 3-4, so i guess is RS is random enough to line up in cell D4 then that may be possible but i have A LOT of maps saved and i don't have a map that's quite that centered with the airport lining up, tile perfect. (i've seen some slightly off center but alas)
iirc D4 would be close to center prob, nvm about 5

note: starting map layouts can all have different set points for airport so while @soft sparrow map looks sorta similar to mine it isn't. my starting map base has 3 waterfalls and a heart shaped lake so within the data it has a set of different airport location possiblities vs his probably

@coarse flicker i think thats a great base! good job on it, you can probably fill it out for sure with decor stuff.. the mini map only has so many markers for use so it won't show cool stuff like you putting out a cafe, a haunted forest, bakery, ect

@coarse flicker if you care about the mini map appearance beyond what you already have then i'd suggest adding in water and some cliffs to the L shapes (upside down) in the corners of the maps but i could see you having a fantastic map without it

Okay so before i go ahead and knock down everything i just did including demolishing two brand new inclines, anyone have any ideas how i can make this flow into the rest of my map? I got inspiration from someone on reddit and can't find their post now and feel lost on what to do. The incline and level there is supposed to help me offset the RS being directly in front of my airport but i cant figure out how ill make it flowable without making the entire rest of my island 2nd level lol. map in bot right is middle of redesign, no buildings or anything are permanent

@sinful drift you could try seeting up some simple panels with museum info on them, flowers would work well. You alreay have 1 but maybe some more might work. and do some color variation with each one too! I see you have space on the side so you can try making a nice outdoor fossil exhibit?
Also for the first pic, I suggest moving away the trees to make some more way, or make a path that's more uniform.

@molten gust in the Sims series I was super stressed out back in the Sims 1 because I felt like I couldn't be creative but in reality I could! I just needed to look at some inspiration and try to flip it in my own way. It wasn't instant.. took a while, but sooner or later I knew how to set up a living room up, in more than 1 way, and evolved overtime. My advice is to look up some stuff (look up themes) and then try your best to slowly morph part of it in your own way, and it'll evolve in time.

You gotta be realistic though. You said your boyfriend did your terraforming and now you came here to ask for ideas which is fine but you should start small and work your way up. It takes time, it takes trial and error. You may have that many hours clocked in but how many hours did you personally put into the designing of the island? how many did you put into terraforming with your own brain? from inspiration? just start small, get some ideas, and try to bring out your own talents ❤️

i enjoy every other aspect aside from trying to decorate, mostly hosting giveaways/doing amiibo villager requests to help people get their dreamies for free, hunting for the non amiibos also to giveaway for free (earlier i did a raymond and the winner was so wholesome and so so happy and it really made my entire week) it's just the designing that makes me stressed

I also wouldn't recommend it. Start on small areas, get something you're proud of and that will motivate you to keep going. I got Bea's house done really nice early on and from that I keep getting inspired to do more

@versed wadi I tried to. I made a solid plan and started to follow it, but then I got off track when I starte dmaking little areas I like and just connecting the dots however I can. I'll be interested to compare my final island to my original plan! haha

It's so backwards to me that it's become this core tool for the community, I kinda get that it can be useful to hash out ideas but if you approach it trying to perfect a map in that is going to automatically translate into a nice looking island in game. Then you're going to be in for a shock.

i need advice, my island has no space in between the airport and the rs and i want cool mountains, water falls, wooden paths, and flowers, i currently have an “entrance” but it’s exactly 21 steps of paths and on the two sides it’s two fenced areas with some cedars and mushrooms in them, another problem is this big, flat, and empty area on the back half that has way to much space but when i try to do something with it it’s has no space at all. the 2 little areas i’m working on right now would be cool, i just don’t have items to fill them with, one is too big and one is too small to work with, all of my buildings are in the way of everything, there are items dropped all over the ground, i have no money to make bridges and inclines, no money to trade with people, i’m not wasting nmt on trades because i want the nook miles items, i have this one long, skinny mountain behind this one area that i have no idea what to do with it, i can’t extend it because there are items on the left and on the right of it there is a river that i’m planing to turn into a cafe street, but again no items or materials to get anything cool. my island is a mess rn and i really need motivation

@trail totem personally I like my rivers flowing from atleast one side to other so when you walk one island to the other you meet alot of villagers fishing in your trip easy talking ect but if you have water like you do still plenty for that to happen if you like how it looks why change it :)
