I didn’t plan it all at the start either, I wanted to develop a feel for how things would go - what kind of area a villager would live in, what kind of yard (no yard?) they would have, see how they interact with each other and their environment

Guys--I need help figuring out if I can pull this trick again.

I had built an island with one level of cliffs closely surrounded by water. I Planted the trees and then went around building a bit of land around so that I could have a place to stand while I rounded the corners. Part way in, I noticed that the logic of the game allowed half tiles cuts on any of the 8 surrounding tree tiles. But I haven't figured out the first steps which I took without paying attention.

Guys--I need help figuring out if I can pull this trick again.

I had built an island with one level of cliffs closely surrounded by water. I Planted the trees and then went around building a bit of land around so that I could have a place to stand while I rounded the corners. Part way in, I noticed that the logic of the game allowed half tiles cuts on any of the 8 surrounding tree tiles. But I haven't figured out the first steps which I took without paying attention.

I noticed that the bottom left corner was gone (a glitch?), but it seems that the game allows diagonal cuts on the four tiles immediately adjacent to a tree so long as you can normally cut diagonally (i.e. they're a corner). The only way I can think of the first corner tile being eliminated is that half cut tiles are automatically eliminated when the next tile over is cut out, but I cant think if a configuration that would manage that.

@river cedar i take my experience designing houses and stuff in the Sims series (all started in Sims 1) where I'd look up inspiration online and turn it into my own flavor of it, or something completely new if it hit me. look up some different areas, towns, houses, culture (then try to match what we have in the game) ect. basic concepts like forests, magical, town, ect. it's really hard to help people with a question like this cause we don't know what you like (sounds like you may not even fully know even tho you are creative in your own way, just gotta find out that spark to get you going)
