Would redoing my entire island so its mostly elevated land with a pit in the middle (like a meteor impact) be a good idea? So my highest level would be the museum, astronomy, (maybe) my house, and a lot of cedar, flowers and holly, my middle would be more fruit trees, kind of natural, and my ables, and the lowest level being my shop, the houses, my plaza, bamboo trees and a secret way to my beach.

Thinking of moving the museum where my house is to make the positioning of residential services less freaking awful, and try to make a proper entrance area, but that leaves the question of where to put my houses. North of the river is out of the question, that's where all my hiking trails and stuff are going to go. But there's little horizontal space on the lower third of the island :/
