@queen nexus that's because you're using your airport/townhall as the centre of the waterfall when they're not actually in the middle of the map
You could move your waterfall over to the left a bit, but it's nice to have a larger chunk of land on one side for a large project

I’m doing a retro diner beside the airport, all of my shops in a big plaza, villagers and parks behind that, then at the very back my home. The sides of the island mostly wilderness to preserve some of the originality, of course with designed areas sprinkled in. I’m concerned about practicality of this design.

The one thing I like about having my house at the back of the island is that it gives me an excuse to walk through other parts I've designed. As much as having a house near the airport would be incredibly functional, you might spend less time admiring the rest of your island. Just my opinion ^^

The thin and long design for my town also makes travel simple with one main road straight from my house to all villagers and shops then airport. but specifically putting my house at the back adds like 2 minutes to an airport trip which is..well it’s only 2 minutes, but it feels annoying. So hard to decide.

I guess it comes down to what you'd like to get out of the game. If efficiency is a more important aspect and you get frustrated with increased travel time, then you could try moving you house location and see how it improves your gameplay experience.

@woven drift id sayin terms of criticism some of the areas seem like the only way to get to them is through one narrow hallway, which could be annoying to traverse if there are villagers/multiple people around. maybe wider walk ways and more accessibility to areas without having to only go one way. i think my favourite area of your island is the little residential and shopping area. the fences and flowers are very pretty

First I was going for a real organized kind of look with symmetrical neigborhoods and that stuff and a huge waterfall with a moonshape lake, 'cause my Island's name is Lunaqua. But then I saw so many pictures and videos of natural themed islands and I'm just digging that kind of vibe. So I'm trying to do that instead but in an organized kind of way. To anyone who could help me or with a similar island layout, where did you start terraforming? I just got the option yesterday and have the cliff/water permits. I played around with them yesterday, hated everything I did, and spent the rest of the night undoing my mistakes. @patent sky pinging you in case you didn't see me think-out-loud and fix my problem- what happened with me is even though it was gonna be 1 body of water in the end, I made 2 bodies of water and connected them in the middle without thinking about it and that's how it became a "river". So if you wanna fix your man-made ponds, remake them but make sure you start from 1 body and extend it from its edges. I fixed my river-pond back into a big pond that way

Ah my ponds are in a completely different place now D: one is covered by cliffs and the other is a waterfall for the museum... at least I have the pond fish dex complete except for one last koi, I guess I just need to make the dodo blush. It's dumb you have to keep your original two ponds to keep spawning pond fish

@patent sky yeah. Keep an eye on the shape of it and if the water starts flowing again backtrack a bit... maybe it depends on the shape too, right now my pond is kinda flip flopping back and forth so maybe if I add squares of water in the "right order" it'll be a big pond in the end
