Is there a number or trees/flowers/items you have to reach to get 5 stars in your town? I just reached 5 stars this morning and my island doesnt even look as amazing as some of the islands here. My nook's is still at stage 1 🤔

Do you have a lot of furniture and flowers laying around?

The best way is to: set up areas that you want to furnish / make

For example; cafes, libraries, parks, campsites, organized housing districts, restaurants
Cheap furniture is equal to expensive furniture, so don't worry about crafting cheap stuff!

Ah, damn. Weeds can decrease it by a lot but if you're at 5* then it shouldn't be a worry!

A lot of people flatten out their entire island; if you have time, do that. otherwise just use the basis of your pre-existing town.

Any suggestions on how to make my left-most cliff/river seem more natural? for reference I'm going to be putting a villager house where the path ends. I tried to make it like the river is hugging the top of the cliff but I feel like since the river mouth is almost detached it ruins the intended effect. I don't want to bring the river any lower though because then I won't have enough space for my villager's house + the pond. should I even out the edges a little bit more or make the river wider?

I just varied my path sizes depending on what it connects to. 2 or 4 wide if it connects to an incline/bridge, 1 or 3 wide where I want it to center on a doorway

I'd try having the plaza like directly to the left of the town hall, with the shops at the top edge. Then you have a path from the airport to the bottom of the plaza, and a path from the right of the plaza to the town hall.

So like now that I've showcased my island to many people, and cherry blossom season is over, I decided to completely change my island design, except the village area coz I'm already happy with it and the villagers are I think happy with their houses too. Wish me luck! I'll collect more furniture first and then map out a new design, since I already know the ins and outs of my island after hours of terraforming. xD

So just unlock Terraforming. I want to totally remake my island and already have a design. First step is to clear all trees and rock off the island first right? And then slowly use terraforming and make my island match the one i planned on the pinned links.

Yeah, just focusing one part at the time to see what the tools offer and the possibilities

There's a filter that smoothens your patterns, so crisp pixels won't be so crisp when in the game

It's a good idea to make them look good in the little preview when you make patterns rather than in the pixel grid

it really is all about measuring like everyone said, it's just section by section. I'd say take a look at your map and think about what you want to be your biggest section (residential, park., etc.) and then start measuring that @visual hamlet

Go edit it and there should be a preview in the lower left corner. You should be able to change what kind of a preview it is, like if it's on clothes or an easel, so just put it on something that is a flat square to see it the best

use the guide that I posted for the measurements ! that's what I used for myself. i just drew dirt paths around everything and built almost everything around it before moving the house so i could get a good vision. i also agree with yan. start with the water

@narrow dew It's really hard to design someone else's island. We don't know what you like/dislike, what theme/style you're going for, terraforming is a lot of trial and error, and can you even terraform on someone else's island?
