I would suggest looking up maps to see what kind of fits your fancy with inspiration. You aren't going to find one "perfect" map because there isn't one. Any of the maps can work and you can be creative. I dislike two south river mouths but I've seen some nice ones still. So search for map images in this channel and see what fits your fancy

@woven drift now that im pretty far into the game I personally really dont like that my town hall is so close to the airport, it doesnt leave me room for a grand entrance or anything... so i know its a little early to think about it but, think about how youll want to customize the space around there (knowing that the town hall cant be moved). that might influence you to choose a different map

I really strongly suggesting once again to look through the maps. I'm not trying to be rude but seriously. I started the game on the 20th and reset around the 24th because I didn't really think through some stuff. I'll give an example how my opinion changed from the 20th until now. I thought I needed a town hall near the center + two south river mouth exits but in reality I realized a lot of my creative ideas didn't really jell with that. What really helped was a west/east + a south exit and town hall being out of the center. I only learned this through 3-4 days of looking up map ideas from the 20th to the 24th
This is why I am re-enforcing to look up map images and decide for yourself
That isn't to say 2 south exits + town hall being center is even bad - I've seen a few make it work but for -me- I didn't like it.

I think my issue with most maps with that layout is everyone puts their buildings in the bottom half. It makes the top section sorta barren in the mini map. I still like the bottom section of your map though, it's nice. You got some room to play around with the top too

My main starting concern is usually my main town, since I like to have a city feel with everything put together, and then my own personal space (orchard, house, personal lakes) which I choose to be the top cliffs! Then I try and give my villagers space from each other cause I personally dont like the houses lined in a row feel

It appears to be 4 x 4, yes. But I believe all trees and rocks within one space of the original plot get destroyed, so a 6 x 6 to compensate the extra space on all sides if you want no trees destroyed

You could build an outer and inner area, dirt on the outside with general pieces around like poles and maybe the gong item, maybe some other smaller things here and there
And then you wall off a inner area which has wood and is the actual Dojo portion, with punching bags and other equipment
