So I thought this was a good idea too but depending on what your doing and whether or not you use more than one layer, DON'T flatten your island, I'll tell you why, I spent a good 3 or so hours doing just that, got rid of water, then flattened my island, and started building. I planned so horribly. I ended up working from bottom to top and now I'm putting in 2nd and third layers after I got rid of them... So I doubled my work for nothing. And I'm pissed XD

Imagine making your island look like New Leaf. You could have the main elevation be 1 level above the ground level, and then have another level for the wall or something around your island, and then have the two inclines that go down to your beach, and at the back of your island you could make Main Street with an incline that goes upwards onto a hill and place all of the shops there. Idk, just a thought

i think you just have to change it manually. i got a close approximation on the beach rocks and river mouths and then just went wild on the interior

If any of you are designing custom paths - be sure to add a light source! I usually have my light source around the northwest part of my texture and it makes it pop a lot more than if you just make a flat texture. Not a lot of people will notice it outright but subconsciously it's going to look 100x better!

Basically I do the light source on the bevel first (north/west light; south/east dark) and then change each pixel on the side of the bevel opposite of the “raised” section of the texture to one pixel darker to simulate a shadow

So for my Museum, Shop, and Tailor, I wanted to do something kinda cool and have them all in the same area but give them their own space.
So, I have a stretch of cliff on the back of my island that I was gonna split into 3 or 4 with waterfalls and rivers dividing them and bridges connecting them, with one facility on each, so I have space to decorate around each but still have them all on one area.
