SwoShi isn't much different from the last games, content wise and if anything has less content. Console Games were still $60 then. it is literally only $60 because other Switch games are, too. SwSh felt like a chore to play. A Pokemon game's never felt like a chore to play before and I've fucking done runs where I had an Unown as a permanent party member and a run of Mystery Dungeon where my team was a goddamn Wurmple/Weedle pair.
The only Pokemon I had in my team that I actually got attached to was my Alcremie but since she couldn't gmax she felt "inferior" to the dozens of Milcery I caught during that one event.

They could have done so freaking much with the game and made it a huge revolution for the series in a shift to Switch, instead they pushed minimum viable product and failed even at that.

SO??? Zelda is for kids, Mario, too. Odyssey and BotW did new stuff. Yes, BotW clearly shoots at an older young-audience but still, the point remains. it could have been HUGE as an upgrade to the series in a shift to console, and had it been, say, the BotW shake-up of the series, it would have been easily the biggest, most renowned game of 2019 and EVERYBODY would have been playing and talking about it.

Yeah, they act like just because it is for kids that somehow means being devoid of content or improvements is fine. BotW is for kids and that game is freaking MASSIVE and FANTASTIC. Not saying you have to go full BotW open world but damn, you can still be doing so, so, so much more

Yeah the rivals are ass. I did my nuzlocke along with a friend and we made fun of the 5 of them a lot haha
I like the Kalos region though, and the soundtrack is great. The fact that each route has such a variety makes it great for nuzlocking!

Masuda has thought the fans are idiots since Gen 4 and it's only gotten worse since then.
The reason why we didn't get the Azure Flute and just had Arceus handed to us in Platinum was because he thought fans would find it "too confusing" and a lot of the decisions to make things easier are based on that line of thought.
He literally has said people have too little attention spans to play games anymore if they're not on a smartphone

That's why everything has become so linear - hell, even Little Town Hero was meant to be "short, with the busy gamer in mind" and look how well that game went
As long as Masuda is in charge of the games (and by extension Ohmori, since he pretty much goes along with whatever Masuda says), Pokemon's probably going to go on a deep downward spiral quality-wise.
At least Mystery Dungeon was good, since it's a spinoff untouched by Game Freak 
I enjoyed (U)SM for what it's worth - I liked the characters, there were some tricky fights, the minigames were fun (MANTINE SURFING) and the region was pretty, even though it definitely felt small... SwSh was such a steep quality drop that I really don't know what the fuck happened tbh.
