that's a great build! I don't use mine for super graphics-heavy games so I didn't need a beefy GPU, nor do I play FPS games so no need for a 1ms 144hz monitor, I do mostly graphic design which DOES require a beefy processor, hence the i7. I will regularly run illustrator, photoshop, chrome, and music all at the same time @icy trout

@tight radish I was in your boat about 14 months ago, I have always been an Apple girl and my trusty MBP fried itself for the last time (it had been repaired 2x by Apple under warranty/AppleCare) and the third time it did it, it was out of warranty and the part was considered "vintage", so way too expensive to fix. I started looking around at replacement MBPs but for the specs I wanted, I would have had to shell out at least 4k. building a PC was WAY cheaper. I learned, I'm still learning, I picked out most of the parts myself but my best friend built it and my boyfriend has done all the upgrades (RGB fans, cable extenders, etc) while I watched and handed him screws and stuff. I know how most stuff WORKS now and I know all the terminology (and I grew up using windows so I know my way around a PC anyway), but it's not hard to learn. it does help to have a best friend and a boyfriend who know their shit

I use my desktop for at-home computing and schoolwork, and my iPad Air (the latest 2019 one) has completely replaced my need for a laptop. I love being out on my own with my bf, I feel like I've grown up so much in the 4 years I've been out from under my mother's thumb and our relationship has gotten to be so much better in recent years. she actually kinda-sorta treats me like an equal, EXCEPT when it comes to medical stuff. both of my parents are doctors and my father is easier to talk to but my mom cannot STAND me being right about stuff she considers herself to be an expert on, except...she's an OBGYN, a highly specialized field, she went to medical school in the 80s, and I'm learning everything RIGHT NOW, hands-on and everything, and she has this mental hangup where she feels the need to correct me on literally everything even if I am right

I live in a high CoL area, Southern California to be exact, so I rent a 3bedroom condo with my boyfriend and 2 roommates and we all get along great. rent is SUPER expensive here so unless you're in the tech field (as many of my friends are) and making bank, you need roommates. oddly enough, our friends all still live with roommates (mostly each other) even though they make a fuck ton of money, we're just all in our 20s and we still party a bit on weekends so it's just easier if we all live in the same area, haha

well, that's good then. I mean San Diego (where I live) is a great place to be if you're in tech, SD is sort of like Bay Area Lite when it comes to compsci jobs. my part of SD is home to a LOT of North American corporate headquarters for companies like Sony and most of the major defense contractors. I have a few friends who work for Sony and the assorted defense contractors and they all have a good work-life balance, unless you're super high up in the company like a VP or something. they're all regular software engineers and make between 90k-110k and they're all only 3.5 years out of college. if you guys are ever looking to relocate, yes SD is a bit of a price jump CoL-wise, but quality of life is way better here than most of the midwest/southern states for sure
moving away from family is hard though. I was lucky to get accepted to my top choice here in San Diego and not have to leave. my whole family is here, extended and immediate (mom's side, the side I care about). both of my middle sisters packed up and moved to Chicago and Boston, respectively, but I couldn't imagine ever leaving.

You have to unlock it be being a Nitro Brewster or Social Islander. It's not available to everyone as it has caused spam in the past. You can do it in a media channels, but not in the text channels. I'm sorry.

collecting seashells and fruit, fishing, catching bugs, shaking trees, finding the money rock, selling excess stuff when the area in front of my house gets too cluttered, etc 😃
