• Your ID won't be deleted; the third party literally lied and stored a lot of IDs and that's how the data leak happened and everyone's IDs that were submitted ended up compromised

• There will be a bot in place for even after you do submit your ID, it will spy on your account, your servers, the amount of time you're on discord during working hours, and even then, it can change its 'mind' and still deem you underage if you even say something off.

there've been a few alternatives to Discord that popped up over the years, none have the name recognition though. Could this change soon? we'll have to wait and see.

I fully understand wanting to prevent abuse on your platforms, but this isn't the way. It does nothing to combat real issues of grooming or genuinely inappropriate content getting to younger folks. (yeah, discord has a content filter... but it SUCKS)

Problem is, dealing with those issues in particular is extremely difficult and nuanced in how you'd do it. This is a simple thing they can roll out and say "look, we're doing what we can to protect the kiddos!" and get tons of good PR.

Content Filters: Discord users will need to be age-assured as adults in order to unblur sensitive content or turn off the setting.

Age-gated Spaces – Only users who are age-assured as adults will be able to access age-restricted channels, servers, and app commands.

Message Request Inbox: Direct messages from people a user may not know are routed to a separate inbox by default, and access to modify this setting is limited to age-assured adult users.

Friend Request Alerts: People will receive warning prompts for friend requests from users they may not know.

Stage Restrictions: Only age-assured adults may speak on stage in servers.

The problem with Discord competitors is that you'll fragment communities back out to multiple platforms. More importantly, there's many countries in which legislation wouldn't require them to enforce the same/similar age-restrictions that the current established platforms are implementing now.

Unfortunately legislators and regulators are finally catching up with the internet, for better or worse.
