is there any issue if I use a different size J with the same width tire on Subaru? (Example: front 8.5j rims with a tire size of 235/40/18 and rear 9.5j rims with a tire size of 235/40/18)

As long as the wheels clear the fender and the circumference of the tires remains the same within 6mm it's fine.

Any issues with the rear diff or gearbox? I heard Subaru’s Dont go well with uneven tires

No issues with Fender

If tire circumferences are within that tolerance it's fine for the diffs

#

Maybe air the rears a tad bit more to account for the possible effect caused by the stretching
