A few months ago, there was an issue with logging in via Steam, and at one point, my game crashed with a Windows error inside the VM. I'm not sure which of these two is the root cause.

After it was resolved, Dota 2 stopped saving certain settings. I play on the Ultimate tier, so I’m not referring to graphics settings — those work fine. Hotkeys and other settings are also saving correctly between sessions.

However, only the Sound and Social settings reset between sessions.

I tested a friend’s GFN account (on the free tier), and it still saves those Dota 2 settings. I’ve tried turning sync on and off, logging out of Steam, and other fixes, but nothing seems to help. Does anyone else have the same problem?

It feels like my config is stuck or something.

Try turning off save grahpics settings, run without that setting enabled a few sessions then re-enable it and see if it resolves the issue.

Can you also try another server location? If that fails, then contact NVCC support.

Thank you for your suggestion! I tried this already without success. I even forced a Steam Cloud Sync error to update the config files without success. The game config is saving corretly for other games, just not this one.

I contacted support already and we are writing the last 48h. Once I get a solution I will update this thread.
