#What are the best settings to avoid GFN-based lag?

I have normal ping and 100MBit net, but today my GFN is unusually laggy and has extremely high ping, making the game borderline unplayable, despite my net being fine and the "total available" jumping even down the 5mbps despite having more than 100.

What were the settings again to avoid this happening again? Thanks! I'm running balanced atm.

Your bandwidth speed isn't the only factor you have to consider, as there's the type of connection you have to your router, the distance between you and the servers, packet loss, the amount of devices connected and much more.

1.What's your stream settings?
2.What server are you connected to?
3.How are you connected to your internet?
4.Are there any devices connected to the internet when playing?
5.Go to this website, https://www.speedtest.net/, and take a screenshot of the end results.

  1. balanced or custom with max bandwith. 2 euc 3.ethernet 4. nope, just me. only my laptop via ethernet cable. 5. currently im playing egnshin and im having issues while my speedtest says this - and i took it while running genshin btw, so my dl/upload speed is faster.it keeps jumping between 3-24mbps availbe bandwith, while speedtest shows 90+....while runnign genshin. i took the genshin screensthos when the speedtest wasnt runing btw

i know that i had this issue before but some mod advised me what to turn on in the custom settings, which fixed it, but i had to reinstall it as it constantly stops recording audio without sound after every patch (so like every two weeks or even one week), and i forgot what they were :/

GFN only uses a certain amount of bandwidth at that given moment, if there's a still image on the screen, GFN will use as little as it needs, since it's just wasted bandwidth to use 40Mbps on a single frame.
Can you try another server location and can you try restarting your router and make sure everything is updated on your device? Can you also try using the custom stream settings but set the bit-rate to auto and disable auto adjust for network.

Yeah, but using only4mbps seems too little, esp. given that it was saying there was packet loss, so the game was lagging? Or was the issue with the GFN server, since my internet was fine and my ping is 8ms on average
I'll try it, like this, right? the only issue is that the lag is random, like sometimes it doesn't happen for a week and then you have 10m where it's laggy, or 2m, or rarely it's an hour or more....

and thanks! 🙂 ill let you know if the issues persist! 🙂

Alright, no worries, and it does seem low, but it's what GFN requests and pulls. Can you also try playing at a time where not many people will be on, such as night time?

That's actually what I was doing, it was around 1-2am when it started lagging. Also it started happenign now, my ping is jumping between 58-90 so the game is very hard to play due to input delays and freeze jumps... yet speedtest once again shows 16ms ping and 90/20mbpit speeds :/ and it's almost 8pm now, usulaly the previous times when it was lagging it was either during very odd hours, like 3-5pm, or 11pm+, so it happening now at 8 is a bit unusual
