#GE force stutter, flickering screen.

This is the equilevant of "my car isn't working, why?"
Good start would be letting us know your network speed, gfn settings, are you on wifi/ethernet if wifi is it 5ghz or 2.4
Play for 2-3 minutes press CTRL+N and send a picture along with your speedtest
Altough to me this seems more like a free tier rig issue (that is if you're on free tier), are you trying to run fortnite on max graphics?
i am on free tier and no the graphics dont even matter
this is my speed
im not sure if its either latency but all i know is my screen keeps flickering or stuttering as u saw in the vid
send your gfn app settings
and ctrl+n stats after playing for a few minutes
are you on wifi
back sorry
i cant im on the waiting list trying to run fortnite
ctrl+n while playing the game?
yes
yes
and its perfectly fine
click on wifi icon, find your wifi click properties, go down it will say network band either 2.4 or 5 ghz
this?
yes
5 then
also im not sure if its a driver or idk a graphics card problem i doubt it is tho
91ms when downloading and 200ms when uploading is not ideal
for my internet?
i mean is that the speed for my internet
and the fact that your downl speeds are lower than upload might suggest that a lot of people on your provider are downloading something which throttles you
no
thats the ping
ohh
so you mean it could be my wifi
thats causing this
your ping when downloading is 91 (you "download" stream from geforce now) and uploading 194 (you "upload" your actions to geforce now)
most likely
i will need that ctrl+n image to be sure
well right now im loading up the game
if i do that tho what does it show>
?*
network stats.
i do it while playing fortnite right
yes
ok
run it for a few minutes
run around do stuff you usually do
then take a picture of it
so is that like bad bad or not good but not to bad u tell me
ol
ok
running the game itll take like 10 mins
its ok in general but very meh for gfn
minimum recommended is 80 ping afaik
could be bufferbloat issue
whats that
also just know i have really not that experience in these kind of stuff i just want to resolve this problem
also higher ms means better?
your wifi is the issue then
also gfn is using only 8mb of bandwith (move around and keep an eye on total used bandwith number if it doesn't go up your connection is being throttled)
used bandwith number? where
somewhere aroud here?
oh i see
here i recorded so u can see for urself
watch it @light musk
not sure what i'm supposed to look at since you didn't even record your ctrl n stats..
anw like I said, if your ping goes up to 300 thats a wifi issue
playing with an ethernet cable might fix it, other than that not much I can do
oh it didnt show?
ill just tell u stats
mbps goes from 20-80 or 90
so do u think its throttled?
alright any recommendations like things i can do to stop my wifi from spiking or if my wifi is throtlled etc
@light musk
@shut gyro @fervent tendon
Ping ms 167 376 262
It's not good
ye ik
How strong is your wifi signal?
results last night
pretty strong i would say i cant really tell what the stats are but its perfectly fine
When nobody is connected to your network, what speed do you get?
no idea and i cannot test due to people in my house or family i cant tell them to disconnect lol
its probably not my wifi just the router
sometimes on somedays its good and bad
What's the max speed did you get?
no idea i only tested it today and last night like i said up in chats im new at this
You said you did get 70 Mbps right?
let me check
Ok, your router is the problem then
yeah im guessing it was the router too
If you have access to routers logins make a new AP with a different band. If most of the devices are connected to 2.4 make a 5ghz AP if most of them are connected to 5ghz make a 2.4ghz AP. It's not a speed issue, speed is irrelevant in this case.
but somedays its good i dont really know
You use your ISP provided router i assume
ill try that
alright
ill do these things and come back if i need help gotta go tho
Your routers admin page will show how many devices are connected and which band they use.
Your router is suffering from bufferbloat according to your ping
so is my router just bad or i can fix it
You can get a router that can prioritize GFN traffic, even when a lot of people use your network, it won't affect you
ohh okay
like buy a new router?
Can you somehow limit speed of other devices on your current router?
Do you have that option on your router?
If not, you can get a new router
no and my parents wont let me touch the wifi or anything so basically i cannot do certain things u want me to do
but yes thanks for this info now i know
anothr question do vpns work?
VPN for GFN?
They do but won't help you
If i get a subscription and use a vpn i can get a better connection right
yes
because it is easier? i tried some vpns they give me better results but those are just the free ones so it didnt do as much.
and idk if it depends on the game i play fortnite so
No, VPNs will add even more latency
this is another screenshot
hmm alright
ill try to research more but for now ill just wait till the connection to be better
yes thats why i said when i used a vpn it made my game better specifically fortnite
No, that only happens if your isp redirects you to servers far away
So basically yes?
VPN skips ISP and the VPN server makes the connection instead
last night tho it was perfectly fine but today its bad like i said could be people connected to my router or etc
This is with VPN? or without VPN?
Which helps if the VPN directs your packets to a closer server, which helps reduce latency, which is what I've said
without
Ping is lower without VPN see
it is weird tho if i launch the game while use a vpn then turn it off when im ingame flicker stops
VPN adds an extra node and therefore it's increases latency
Not always.
it was like this but i was getting flicker and stutter but now with the same results it doesnt stutter which is weird
I can literally get into US server and have a 260ms ping meanwhile with TunnelBear I get 140
In his case it's not the ISP routing issue which is why VPN won't (or atleast shouldn't) help but in general VPN 100% sometimes improves latency. Key word - sometimes
yea note that im only using geforce for fornite the game probably recieves different things like ping or something
It's a lie, cause it's not your latency, it's the latency between GFN'S server and Turnnelbear's VPN server
And if the remaining latency between my ISP to Tunnelbear is smaller added up with the latency between Tunnelbear and GFN it results in lower latency for me, which is the case.
Editor’s note: This video incorrectly states that we asked for Google for comment on the input lag time. At the time of publication, we had not asked for comment, but have subsequently done so.
Google Stadia is a great concept for the next generation of gaming, but its input lag — which is variable — makes it nearly unplayable. Launcher tested ...
This describes what happens if you use vpn
