I want to start by saying that I'm not going to mention sound design or animations or anything of that sort, as it is extremely early and I understand why those things must be unpolished.

My feedback pertains to the actual core gameplay experience. I will be comparing it almost directly to Ravenswatch, as it's the most similar game I can think of.

Heroes: The hero pool is small. Much smaller than the original Evercore Heroes. I like the designs, but they don't feel very good to play.

Roguelike powers: This further accentuates the issues with the heroes. "do x% more damage when you're low hp" doesn't change the way you play the game. It doesn't spice up the heroes gameplay at all.

Maps: It's just procedurally generated circles. Nothing exciting. Ravenswatch has a full map with random spawning objectives beyond just "kill 10 monsters".

Overall design concept: Why would you take such an amazing idea like "Co-Op PvP Mythic+ with League of Legends style gameplay" and dumb it down to be a worse Ravenswatch? It's like the lack of success for the OG ECH led to a pivot to what WAS popular at the time, but the genre of roguelikes and the fad is already dying. By the time this releases nobody will care anymore.

I'm disappointed by this. I bought early access to the original game because the idea was so fresh and cool. This is just... bleh.

I agree with this 100%. I'm still playing around with the demo to really get my full feelings in order, but absolutely this just feels like a rushed pivot to popular thing. The original version of this game had problems, but even as it was, it was incredibly unique with super high highs. The biggest improvement this has is how the characters feel to control and how abilities feel to cast but I just can't help but feel how much more excited I would be to be playing with those improvements within the original concept.

At this point, the only props I can give ECH is that the character design still slaps, the game looks nice, and it feels good to control, but that's about it. There's nothing here. There's nothing that makes this game stand out among any other roguelike out there right now and that's ignoring how poorly balanced it feels currently with the enemies just feeling like sponges most of the time. I'm sure there's love and passion behind this, but I don't feel it. This doesn't seem like it was created with the same excitement and passion that the original was, and personally, I feel no excitement towards it anymore. Hugely disappointing.

Thanks for the brutally honest feedback, and sorry we couldn’t deliver on this version of the game for you. Our super small team has heard all of this and is committed to doing whatever we can to realize to potential of a hero roguelite with the foundation Evercore, even though we aren’t there yet.

I can assure you there’s passion on our end, but probably just too much in the way of other issues for it to show. We will do what we can and work hard even if you’re not around anymore. Thanks again for your time and support.
