I try using unity's extension for vs code and stuff, but it keeps saying that the .net sdk was not located, and I tried installing it a million times, from both vs code AND the .net installer

Like, what OS are you using?
Did you try restarting vs code, or the OS after installing dotnet?
Most importantly, did you follow the ide config guide through and through?

usually you can just invoke the .net installer in vscode, wait for it to finish, and restart vscode. ive heard that this sometimes doesn't work on linux though
