#Why are some colours so compressed in HDR?

It feels like its almost impossible to get bloom with certain colours, as increasing the HDR intensity changes the hue completely. This only seems to occur with certain colours though. For example, increasing the intensity of a green turns it either cyan or yellow, and increasing the intensity of a blue turns it either cyan or purple.

Is there any way to get around this? Is it possible to have a bloom with a deep blue colour?

That's due to how the HDR value is converted down to LDR for display again, if the green is not 100% "pure", any blue or red value in the color will make it go toward cyan or yellow.
Ex: a what could be seen as green (20,255,0) multiplied by 20 gives (400, 5100, 0) and clamped down to LDR is cyan (255, 255, 0)

Interestingly, if you change the tonemaping mode to "none", the green glow will still show up (but not the surface color)

The glow effect does dramatically increase the color shift of the surface, adding values together, here's the same object without glow :
