Hey guys, im happy to share with you a tool that ive been working on!
I call it Ultimate Foliage Renormalizer, essentially it allows you to regenerate your existing foliage meshes but with much better normals, and AO baked into vertex color.
Its inspired by techniques, used in AAA titles like horizon zero dawn. the tool automatically creates a canopy proxy mesh out of your foliage, then uses the proxy to both create higher quality normals on the source, and generate high quality ambient occlusion data baked into vertex color
