Hi! I am trying to add caustics to my underwater 2D game, and I've made an animation which was a bit tedious. I am wondering if anyone has any tips on how to implement a caustics shader that emulates the simple caustics seen underwater? I've added the animation, and as you can see it's very choppy and not smooth as it is intended to be.
An alternate solution could be to add many more frames, but I think it will be very time consuming to make it as smooth as I want it.
Anyone got any tips?

Caustics are a very specific kind of motion
To make something that only looks similar but also convincing is up to your artistic talent to interpet it visually
But if you want an accurate representation of caustics, you need to use an actually physically correctly simulated animation or use video of real caustics, either as reference or as-is
