#Too many light emitting particles causes crash

When I have too many light emitting particles active in a scene (256 to be precise), the rendering crashes, and gives me an error (screenshot attached). How can I increase this number? If I do as the error instructs and reset Unity, it does not fix the problem.
Apparently that happens with specific build targets, when switching build targets and/or with Unity 6
At least there are more than one bug report about it on Unity 6
so that'll be a problem as long as I use Unity 6 basically?
