#Having Issues Merging Meshes with Multiple Submeshes

While following this tutorial I started issues with the number of submeshes on the final object. The code works as expected if the final mesh only has one submesh, but if the final mesh has more than one submesh it throws this error and does not render the other submeshes. I found an old unity forums post about it here, but it hasn't lead to anything useful. I'll post the script below. for anyone who has experience in procedural generation if you're willing to help me out.
