Hi all. I have this shader working, but it's just a single render pass atm, and I know it could look much better. I'm ultimately aiming for that Dreams (PS4 game) kinda look (without resorting to SDFs). Here's how it looks atm (point density & splat sizes can be adjusted). Any thoughts? Thanks!
Things I've currently tried (with mixed results):
- Distance based point cloud recalculation: results are inconsistent as the point clouds for the objects get recalculated (performance hit) and looks bad.
- Distance based splat sizes: Inconsistent results. Difficult to "art direct"
- The video shows progress before I added splat textures.
- Depending on the model, I sometimes use the original mesh renderer to "fill in the blanks"
