Morphosis is a game where you play as The Blob, a gelatinous creature created in a secret biotechnology laboratory. Your sole objective is to survive and escape.
But here, the danger doesn't just come from outside—your own body is constantly changing.

Each contact with the environment (crystals, nutrients, fields, etc.) causes a random mutation in your properties: size, density, elasticity, speed, adhesion... These changes can help or hinder you, and you'll have to constantly adapt to progress through this maze designed to trap you... and transform you.

There are no enemies to fight, but a hostile and unpredictable environment, where every transformation is visible and must be taken into account immediately.

Morphosis is a survival adventure, an evolving puzzle where change is your only certainty... and perhaps your only way out.

Will you be the ultimate mutation, or just another lost experiment in the silent corridors of this forgotten lab?

(I use AI for complex codes...)

I've made some progress on the set.

plush stratus
#

I added some obstacles based on the mutations.
I will add interactive objects later.

plush stratus
#

I added the slime (still in testing) and improved the movement code so that it can look in the chosen direction.

Also, do you have any advice on how to shorten the code while keeping the essentials to avoid bugs? (My code is almost 1,000 lines long...)

I fixed the bugs with reactive tiles and respawn + Added an animation to visualize interactive objects

#

I'll have to review the conditions with the lights...

plush stratus
#

I'm working on the opening scene.

plush stratus
#
  • I added some images to show how it all began (you can read the text to get some context).
  • I also added some instructions for the player.
#

I just imported an asset for the main menu because I can create one that I like.

plush stratus
#

I added a sign at the beginning of the first level to inform the player of the objective and controls.

#

I will add the same specific object to each room (we'll see) to access this panel.

#

I really must learn how to use the shader graph... I need real slime.

Now, I'm going to create the Pause menu.

plush stratus
#

However, in terms of the puzzles to be solved, it's not great at the moment, but I'll try to improve that.

#

There is literally just an information sheet and a sheet indicating the exit. I could leave it like that for the first room, but I don't think it's challenging enough.

I added a teleporter to go to room 2.

plush stratus

I'm working on my Room 2

#

It's difficult to continue developing the game with school...

plush stratus
#

I'm trying to make a pressure slab.

plush stratus
#

I will now finish designing the layout of my room 2.

plush stratus
#

I have finished modeling a piece of furniture.

#

Well, normally it's supposed to be more of a broken and horror version, but we'll change it later.

plush stratus
#

I added a piece of furniture that will play a small role in the game and the ability to rotate the camera.

plush stratus
#

I'm trying to create an action that will open an access (I'm struggling a bit lol)

plush stratus
#

I finally managed to solve the problem of tiles that wouldn't disappear completely...

plush stratus
#

I added markings to help the player.

#

So there's a mystery to solve.

plush stratus
#

Maybe I should create a cinematic to explain the story a little.

#

Once the player reaches this room

#

The decor is terrible lol

plush stratus
#

I have too many ideas, I don't know what to do...

#

I can create several types of interactive blobs, or create objects with their own thoughts.

#

I even planned to adapt quantum physics experiments into the game, such as Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle or even Schrödinger's Cat Experiment.

Devlog Focus: Secondary Rooms Reveal the Secrets of the Lab
I'm going to enrich the level structure by adding crucial secondary rooms. These areas are not optional; they are vital to the storyline and progression:

Assimilation Room: These are our skill hubs. The blob finds resources here to unlock or upgrade key mutations (such as “Metal” or “Heavy”).

Dr. Alistair's Office: The narrative chamber. Here you'll find forgotten files that reveal the history of the Chrysalis Protocol, the identity of Subject 7, and the reasons behind the disaster.

Cryogenic Stasis Room: Environmental puzzles. These require the player to use new mutations (such as “Cold”) to freeze obstacles or unlock a passage.

These rooms transform the laboratory into a rich place of exploration, where every detour is rewarded with a power or a fragment of the story.

#

I create room 3, then I will create the alternative room.

plush stratus
plush stratus
#

I am trying to add a new reagent.

plush stratus
#

Okay, I'll just remove it or change the reagent because it's too much hassle...

plush stratus
#

Now I'm working on gameplay consistency and adding instructions where necessary.

plush stratus
#

I think it would be better to create a “tutorial level” for level 1, as it seems too difficult for beginner players...
