Two faces, one from your mesh and another from a new cube
Normal map from another source
If the normals get curved by smoothing it looks kinda right, but isn't actually
Which may be why recalculating normals appeared to be a fix
If setting the Normal Map node to use the same UVs as the texture itself, as it probably should be, then the both of them work in object mode but then the correct one breaks in edit mode
I'm out of ideas why this is occurring
But most likely possibility seems that the export addon has the option to export tangents and it wasn't checked
