#Jurassic Gym - Who needs Alt+Tab when you can just make your game transparent?

My current side project is a transparent application (that sits on your taskbar) idle/management game and I realized I can play it at the same time as my main creature collecting game. Why? Why not?

The game itself is pretty simple - dinosaurs work out on the bottom of your screen on equipment that you buy. Dinos gain stats and level up as they exercise and you can send them off to competitions where they can win medals which in turn unlock the ability to upgrade your gym with new equipment and decorations with global buffs (along with some purely cosmetic features like flooring and paints).

Would you like to adapt the game for your phone?

Hooey, been a busy month. I launched a Steam demo for this bad boy and I'm moderately pleased with how it's doing on there.

For those interested: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3782040/Jurassic_Gym_Demo/

In the past month I've:

  • Added over 50 decorations
  • Did a massive UI overhaul
  • Implemented a tutorial
  • Refactored the save and load system (98% reduction in garbage collection... it needed it quite badly.)
  • And... a lot more.

I am currently working on a full Overview screen, which I decided would look cool if it looked like it was pencil-drawn on a clipboard. Updates in real time with info about the dinosaur and everything (and the background is coloured based on the rarity - all Common in the screenshot). You can click the little Eye icon to pan to the dino so you don't have to search for 'im.

Back to it!

✨What's in the Demo?✨
The Jurassic Gym demo features over half of the dinosaurs from the full game, a healthy sampling of gym equipment and decorations, and tons of paint colors and flooring options.

You can play up to a max of 10 Medals, but nothing is stopping you from continuing to train your dinos for as long as you'd like!…
