Ok, if i'm allowed to rant a bit here:
Things like these are why devs are either leaving or sticking with other engines even when they removed the infamous fee and kicked out the previous CEO and the rest of the suits: for all their talks about wanting to regain trust and improve the engine and its features, they are doing an awful amount of bad choices: firing lots of important people, abandoning features that are well received or highly anticipated by the community (AGAIN!), doubling down on other features that nobody asked (cof cof AI cof cof), being silent about general progress on the efforts on improving the engine (then abandoning said efforts), 50% of the most recent QnA answers feeling like they are trying to appease shareholders rather than trying to clarify any doubt from the community (seriously, just go private already!). Meanwhile the third party assets have been doing a lot of the heavy lifting for years and Unity hasn’t bothered to keep up with most of them or even buy the most requested/useful assets (and even when they do, there’s no guarantee that it’s going to be either like Cinemachine or Probuilder). I’m incredibly doubtful about Unity’s future at this point if they keep doing this bullshit.
All right, rant’s over.
