I'm currently joining my first game jam.
It's the "Untitled Game Jam #107" (https://itch.io/jam/untitled-game-jam-107).
The theme is "One Minute".

My plan for the game is:
It's a platformer game where the Player needs to move to the flag, before the time runs out.
The timer has 60 seconds on the clock. (That's the one minute theme).
After you finish the level. The time will reset back to one minute.

The punishment:
If a Player doesn't make a jump, then he will fall down. (There is no death from falling)
So he has to climb all the way back to where he was, with a lesser amount of time.
Or if he dies by on of the traps, then the level will reset. So all progress is lost.

Progress:

Day 1:

  • Player movement.
  • Explosion Particles when the Player dies.
  • First trap: Spikes
  • Postprocessing: Glow effect.

Day 2:

  • Created a tutorial scene.
  • Placed a UI element in the world.
  • Change all the canvas to scale with the resolution of the screen.
  • Second trap: Lava.
  • Added sounds for the exploision and jumping.

(I didn't take to much time working on the project.)

Day 3:

  • Created Level 1.
  • Created Level 2.
  • Gave the MainMenu + Victory scenes a better look. (Still trash though!)

You should add a particle effect when jumping

#

For that game feel

I think a trail would also look nice

You can add a trail renderer to the player's game object

the jump is way too loud tbh also how about adding a mechanic where you can slow down/speed up the timer that slows you down /speeds you up to get through certain obstacles? I think it'll be cool to have smth to take in mind while platformin

Thanks for your input. I'm really happy with peoples feedback.

But I have to honest. I'm currently really bored of the project. It's not a fun game. And I just want to finish it and upload it. I'm going to add some more levels and call it a day.

The reason why I'm doing game jams is because I'm not finishing games. I go from project to project. And deleting them when I'm tired of them. So I need to combat that.
