Whats FaceToons?

FaceToons is a comprehensive toolkit designed to streamline texture-based character facial animation directly in Unity, offering an array of tools for animators, artists, and developers alike.
From simple winks to eye twitches, from smirks to lip-synced sequences. FaceToons allows you to quickly and non-destructively add expressive and unique animations to dialogues within minutes directly in the timeline. No keyframes necessary. (And it also comes with an advanced toony Eye ShaderGraph!) More details about the features, workflows or setup here.

Looking For Testers

I am pretty close to being release-ready, but need some real-world data on using the framework in production environment to make sure I iron out more bugs, gather feedback or even implement more features. That's why I am looking for advanced Unity developers who are working on a toony game utilizing/planning to feature texture-driven facial animation (similar to A Hat in Time, Billie Bust Up, Pokémon, or older Zelda games, where expressions are drawn onto textures and swapped/layered to animate variety of expressions). The system saves time by allowing you to layer/blend procedural & state-driven animation with manual overrides. It also removes the need to create or manage TextureAtlases (it uses more modern TextureArray architecture under the hood)
For questions feel free to use this post. Don't be afraid to tag me. If you are interested about testing the package, write me a direct message.

Video of the system prototype in action from november. Since then a major refactor was done on both the shader (to not require mask textures, be modular and much more flexible) and the C# and editor experience. I encourage you to check the documentation to find out how FaceToons could help your project.

Prototyping an advanced 2D cartoony face system which I worked on few months ago. Made with C#, #ShaderGraph and #Timeline in #Unity!
