#so i should uninstall the hub?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
what?
for how long is this 99% issue been going?
well since you didn't try another version , why dont you try that
tried like 4 different viersion
like what?
The recommended one, two of the 2023 and one in 2022
no such thing as 2023
its either 6 or 2022
you tried unity 6 and 2022? just changing the editor version shouldn't solve the issue
it could if newest LTS is borked or something
3 from here - 1 from the hub (recommended)
on the site the manual download for latest LTS leads to 404
hence why i linked .31f instead of 32f1
did anyone ever come here and make such a big issue of the 99%?
again, you can try installing the Editor without the hub and see if that works.
no normally it fails for some other reason
huh?
well it does happen sometimes, but it usually is an antivirus issue
but your logs say it could not find the parent editor or something like that
I would first test the manually installed editor, see if that runs then figure out the Hub later.
there is literally no benefit to the hub, just makes it easier to install modules
IS THIS RIGHT-
Ok
also how much space do you have left on C: ?
then just run the .exe and follow the steps
1.1tb
ok
you are downloading the editor directly, no need for a middle man such as the hub
because the hub has more extra layer of abstraction
Ok
ideally you eventually want to figure out whats wrong with hub but for now you can use editor just fine.
can i still make a 3d project?
why wouldn't you be able to?
the editor will work exactly the same.. nothing about HUB changes how unity behaves
its just a crappy middleman sometimes (personally never had issues with it but others have )
Ok
I finsihed my overall dowland
now what do i do
nothing is appearing
where do i dowland visual c++
The compiler or redistributable?
where do you download Visual studio?
wdym?
I was just double checking what you meant
Probably set up visual C++ in VS
well there you go, this could explain why hub mightve been stuck
I enetered vs
no
not sure why that version popped up though
also windows normally already has those installed in 11 no?
C++ runtime has nothing to do with Visual Studio
tyes it does
you could just download the latest one under
Latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Version
Ok i repaired it
Download visual redistributable and run as administrator, might do it
which one
the important part is having Unity selected/download here
ok nvm
For VS, the latest
At least that’s what I’d recommend, not exactly sure if that’ll work
dowland it or no ?
yes. Uncheck hub and Copilot
im so lost rhough all this things
when im dowlanding the .exe again the same thing pops up with the warning but let me try again
Try restarting your computer
what thing ?
setup
wat?
oh
which setup. we;re not mind readers
like open the setup and see if the messahe pops up
this
again. thats why i said unrelated to VS
did you download and install the C++ redistributable ?
yes the x64
for unity
You ran the vc_redist.x64.exe just to make sure?
this is completely unrelated
yes
Yes but Im saying its not related to C++ redistributable issue
that has to do with Windows being stupid and not including that runtime with windows for some reason
also I have no idea why its using 2010 version
Ok lets start from the begging what do i have to do
Wait for VS to install, Install the C++ runtime redistributable. restart. run Unity
Hub or Setup
forget hub.
OK
we were clearly doing it without hub, why did you bring up hub lol
Ok i restarted my computer
Hello! I'm on vacation right now, but, happened to check in here and have a few thoughts:
- What navarone mentioned here is correct if you install Unity from the download archive
If you do want to go the Hub route:
- 99% can be an anti-malware issue, but can also sometimes be a permissions issue. Do you have admin rights on this machine? I'd assume so given you could install VS, but worth asking
- If you do want to use the Hub route - would you be able to share logs? You can get logs from https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/log-files.html - but as Navarone has mentioned, you can totally install the Editor w/o the Hub, it just helps for licensing + downloading of additional platform components
he already did share logs
Ah sorry! Completely missed this! I dislike how fast Discord is compared to a forum 😆
is this guy an ai?
#💻┃unity-talk message this one in particular seems to catch my eye
thats a Unity employee mate
Ok
here was the log btw
#💻┃unity-talk message
nothing interesting stood out to me
assuming thats even the Entire log and not cutoff by Discord
normally it just fails or something, stuck at 99% on download might've been def a firewall/antivirus perhaps
UnityInstallerWindows","pid":36524,"message":"user did not agree to the UAC prompt and the process was not started"}
Is fairly interesting - @restive plank , do you happen to have admin rights on this machine?
my real time protection is off
we'll see what happens with activation lol
what?
ah yes.. also odd that they said they did not get a UAC prompt for CommandLine which i usually get for a new install
idk how I missed that
I need to be an admin?
the prompt i showed you before
ah Val is right, run the hub with admin privileges
see if it gives you the prompt
Won’t kill to try running your set up as an admin
the problem with that sometime it makes the Editor run as admin which is undesirable @oblique fulcrum
you guys mean this?
So, you can totally install Unity without admin rights, but by default on Windows we assume you have admin on your machine - this is so we can install dependencies for you, and setup firewall exclusions such that the profiler & debugger will work correctly over the network.
We have a section on our docs on setting up the Hub to run without admin if you don't want to give the Hub admin rights - give me two secs to find it.
Yes right after all the drama with one drive i resrated my laptop then i have gone on the hub as admin and it still sayed 99%
also just curious, show both your Download path and Editor path in Hub
btw did editor run ? lets test that first then figure out fix for hub
its the same as the hub
The editor is not no
Now what the hell is this
This is a Windows path length limitation I think. Let me double check that though
Try deleting the template in that location and re-setting the whole thing up in program files
OK yes, I believe this is path length. Where is the project on your computer, and how long is the file path?
I have no project
you created a new project ?
certainly you picked a folder for it..
You're the one controlling the computer, how do you not know?
start by tellings us How did you get to this error, what did you do beforehand
this one yes?
yes
when i press make a new project and i press unversel 3d then create project
that just appears
ok now.. which Folder/path did you pick for saving new project into
when you create new project its right there
For some added detail - the project path location is here in the Hub when you create a project 🙂
If you click that, it should pop up with where you're currently attempting to create a project
are you running the correct Unity ?
was this the offline version of unity?
yes the one you gave me
did you remove the one from before that was stuck? in the hub
yes
stil might be permission issue (holy crap windows sucks)
click Diagnose and see what happens
linux ftw
fr
(As a heads up, I'm going to have to dip - my laundry just finished up! But if I find some free time while on vacation in the next few days I'll drop back in here - but you seem to be in good hands with @cedar lava and dec_ves ! )
nothing
enjoy your vacay! @onyx siren
thank you! 🎅
Thanks for your time, especially on vacation 😁
hopefully we fix it soon , I got to make dinner soon lol
got this fail
Check your internet connection?
nothing to do with internet connection
It does actually
