Welcome to Fishin'! A singleplayer open world fishing game, in this game it's pretty simple. You can go fish wherever you want, in any body of water. First you have to start off at a dock, but once you get better you can buy some new rods and buy even boats! You can travel to new islands around the map which yield different fish. You can even just fish in the ocean on your boat. There are different types of fish you can catch, which you sell for cash. You can also complete quests for some of the NPC's around the map to get more cash for a more adventure experience. I'm still working on this game for a project but I hope it becomes something good.

I want to get this off the bat. I know about "Webfishing", the new popular fishing game. I created/started working on this game BEFORE it came out. I was really sad to see someone beat me to the idea, but just because people will say "Hey! Your copying!". I plan to use different types of fishing methods and gameplay. I will continue working on this game because I made it, and I will be proud of it no matter what.

If you have any feedback, it would be greatly appreciated!

How did you do the rendering? Is it pseudo-3D? Looks really cool

Interesting. Do you have any videos of gameplay? The only thing I can say is to maybe distinguish between the water and the fishing rod just based on the photo on the left

I tried making a fishing game myself but gave up because I spent too much time obsessing over the water and less on the gameplay. Might go back to it and cut down the scope lol

Godot is really good for 2D games, like really really good. I think it may be more fun for me in general too.

Ah I'm missing Unity. If I do Godot I can't make good 3D games anymore.

Back to work on the fishing game!

Fish will now move randomly inside the bar. Took me a long time to get it lol.

#

Each fish is a scriptable object so I can easily create new ones and they each have some data

I also switched to third person, what do you guys think?

#

Or is 1st person better?

kind of depends on the type of game, if its meant to be more immersive then 1st person is the way to go for example

I feel like we’ve seen too many of the same fishing minigames, maybe there’s something new to invent or maybe a random minigame per fish/rarity?
