The player takes on the role of a vlogger named Alex, who has been documenting his passion for exploring abandoned places since childhood. His YouTube channel, Urbex, has steadily grown a dedicated audience, drawn to his adventures in forgotten and decayed locations.
For his latest video, Urbex sets his sights on the St. Valentines Asylum, a desolate and overgrown mental hospital with a chilling reputation. Dubbed "The Place of No Return" by the locals, it’s rumored that those who attempt to explore the building disappear without a trace. There are even old police reports about search teams sent in to recover missing explorers, only to never return themselves. Now, Urbex wants to be the one who finally uncovers the truth.
Despite warnings, Urbex is determined to film his exploration of the asylum, driven by a mix of ambition, curiosity, and the lure of mystery. But once he crosses the threshold of the asylum, he discovers that some places were never meant to be explored.

Feedback on this is appreciated👌
That's a big coincidence lol. Thank you for the nice words

although I will say I like ur main menu 👍
thank you (it definitely doesn't have hidden eastereggs, definitely not in the most obvious location)
YouTube seems to compress the videos a lot, so apologies for that. It doesn't look like that when playing normally.
This is how it looks when not compressed:
Looks nice
Thank you
I recommend to add soundtrack
What kind of sound track?
WIP.
Thoughts?
def add a highpass filter on some sounds, would help with the handheld camera effect :)
Will do thank you:)
Lol it’s a car scene
My character is driving towards the destination where most of the game will happen at
It’s a playable cutscene
working on an examination menu
Working 💀
It’s already a part of the package you bought unless you mean tweaking it or smth
Just writing my own version to intergrate it with it
already done that with animations
because the included one had problems
that would've been harder to solve if i decided to keep the included script
Ofc it had problems because you got it from the sketchy fake website 💀
😭 well yeah lol
it looked like someone decompiled it and then put it back together.
didn't realise it at first though
just thought i most likely put it together wrong, or something, didnt realise i was scammed

Is this game made on HDRP, URP or Built In Render? Since it's looks so cool.
It’s made in HDRP
this is what I've been working on
do you guys potentially want MacOS or Linux builds of the game?
Sick.
macOS is eh.
Maybe. But I might as well see if anyone would be willing to play a game like this if they own a Mac
WIP
Guys. I was thinking of integrating a feature.
Currently the enemies in the game react to sound and eyesight.
Sound the character makes especially.
Do you guys think adding microphone detection is also a good idea? Whispering would be fine far away, but talking loudly up close could alert the enemy, for example.
Let me know
WIP
looks sick
Thank you 🙏
is there any sort of coop expected in this game?
Not at the moment. But I might make a co op expansion after release
If enough people want that
Indeed
or more like an exploration, more infinite game?
A linear story , but exploration is a big part of it
Thanks 🙂
Are you gonna port your game for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series S/X? If yes, I want see gameplay of it!
Yes! I'm planning to!
Instant single jumpscare deaths (eg. Fnaf) or health based jumpscare system (eg. Outlast)
What do you guys think would be fitting for a game like ours?
Why not both?
whats the style here? im seeing realistic but also found footage/vhs esc stuff
going photorealistic. it looks quite better from the player but from the editor some effects won't apply, just the way i programmed them
but there is found footage/vhs style whenever the player equips the camera. it has a couple more filters to make it look like a recording, but still giving visibility
ah right i see so thats where the sharpness is coming from i assume
because its a health system i'm questioning, should the enemy kill the player the instant they get close or have a 3-hit health system, for example
indeed
nice, keep it up this looks pretty good 🙂
thank you, glad to have your support
WIP backyard area
Metal cabinets do NOT sound like that 😭🙏
Placeholder sounds 😭 dw. I'll change that
Out of curiosity have you ever tried C++?
Yeah, it's one of the languages I learned along my dev road
C# is one of the most recent ones I've learned, actually lol
wow how much do you know?
Like would you consider yourself new intermediate or advanced?
Depends on the programming language tbf
I'm very advanced with JavaScript, Batch, Lua, Kotlin, intermediate with c#, C++, Smali, TypeScript and new in languages like swift but there's lots more I just cba to remember them lol
oh thats nice and one more question is there a demo release date your aiming for in this project?
I really wanna try it out.
Most likely next year
Glad to hear!
I see a document there are these interactable like outlast? 👀
Yes (But don't tell anyone)
🤣
This game is very heavily lore based and has an insane story that you'll uncover via notes, documents and videos
and ofc NPC and enemy interactions
ooo i like games about exploration
if you ever finish it or do playtests id love to play it
is your game going to have music?
Glad to hear!
I’ll make sure to let you know whenever a demo, or full release comes out!
Well, yeah we will have music tracks made for the main menu, and credit sequence and there is also in game props that will have music such as a radio etc.
There will also be chase sequences, for enemies, that will play sounds, but often to entice the player and frighten them a little bit
🫡
@junior glade in your game description you say the place is overgrown and like people goes missing I would feel that there would be trash or flipped furniture around especially because it’s a mental hospital
This is the protagonists house. You don’t start directly in the asylum, you find your way there
WIP water interaction.
Sound FX and Graphical FX incoming too, stay tuned
cool
haven't posted any updates in a while. but rest assured we're still working hard...
HDRP ?
Yes
Do you guys prefer this version of the main menu or the old one?
both cool, but that new main menu is better. feels like telling a story because of the background.
Thought so as well, I'm glad you agree with me!
is this your voice? so nice bro
It was an AI placeholder lol. We have proper voice actors for most in-game characters now
looks good bro ! what post process settings is this ? using Raytracing GI and AO ?
I haven’t implemented ray tracing just yet, but I’ll do it along with DLSS and other NVidia stuff before the release
What you’re seeing now is just pure HDRP with my own shaders
ok thats impressive ur own shaders they look really well
u shader programmer or with shader graph ?
I have a mix of both, but I prefer using the shader programming language as I’m just better at it
Ray Tracing achieved
Look ☝️
Hey guys,
Just wanna let you know there will be a few big things coming soon!
Exciting updates are on the way for URBEX!
A Steam page is in the works and will be made public soon, so you’ll be able to wishlist the game in the coming weeks. (Please wishlist :))
We’re also working on a teaser trailer, which will be released on YouTube and featured on the Steam page shortly after its launch.
Stay tuned😁!
Revamped the atmosphere totally. Game gives a whole different vibe. I felt as if the previous iterations were too bright for a psychological horror thriller game
Thoughts?
The film grain is a bit strong, gives me a weird migraine like feeling
I changed it since then. Have a look at the newest video
Wow, your game looks good, how long have you been working on it?
About 6~ months so far
I think I should get a demo up on steam by the end of this year
I don't think you have to finish the game perfectly , just mvp
Full time ?
Part time
I have 3 other jobs 😅
And I’m relying on donations to pay for this game a little as well
Funding it by myself is quite hard
I am a perfectionist by nature, I’d rather deliver a AAA product in a year or two rather than rush a indie game that will be full of bugs
anyway good luck your game looks super immersive!
