Yeah, I do plan on showing bone the source and target skeletons in 3D. And will be able to select and map bones that way.
And maybe I should just have that as the primary way of doing it. But I felt like having the mappings be able to be created withing having to be 3D would be good. Because sometimes it would be easier, especially for smaller bones.
On that note, do you think have bone 3D skeletons in one scene would be easier, or each in there one. I am really mixed on which would be easier to use.
I only have the Unreal retargeter as a reference so I am not sure which solution is the most confortable/optimal, but the denser the tree, the harder it is to navigate in a treeview imo

Yeah, tbh the Unreal Retargeter is the only thing I know of that lets you retarget animations haha. I'm sure there are others, but I don't know any
From what I can found, UE has the most "advanced". Both Blender's and Maya's plugin only have side-by-side lists haha
Yeah, and Unreal's isn't much better from what I can see.
Yeah, seems like that kind of tool would need some UX designers' time
